Belwood Lodge and Camp is a non-profit, OCA accredited summer camp for children, youth and adults with special needs. This includes but is not limited to intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities. Located in Belwood, Ontario, our camp offers an amazing and unique summer camp opportunity for individuals of all ages (7 - senior). We value the safety and comfort of all our lodgers (camp participants) and know the importance of the respite the caregivers receive while their family member is in our care.

We are currently hiring for the position of Cabin Counselor. Cabin counsellors are the immediate caretakers of our campers, and support their physical, behavioural and emotional needs throughout their stay at camp. Cabin Counsellors are the heart of our camp.
This is a seasonal, residential (live in) position, running from ASAP to August 28, 2026. The pay is bi-weekly with a salary of $550.00 per week. Room and board is provided by Belwood Lodge and Camp. There is also a $500 bonus for completion of the full contract.
The first week of the contract is a full week of staff training. During this week our counsellors will be trained on the best practices when it comes to personal care, emotional care and behaviour management. The staff training week will also be full of thrilling team building activities and challenges!
Job Responsibilities
- Provide direct support to lodgers in their daily routines and camp activities
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging camp environment
- Assist lodgers with personal care as needed (training provided)
- Lead and participate enthusiastically in camp programs and events
- Work collaboratively with fellow staff to ensure lodger safety and satisfaction
- Uphold Belwood Lodge and Camp’s values of respect, inclusion, and compassion
Job requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- Current enrollment as a student
- Standard First Aid/CPR Certification
- An interest in a future career working with people with disabilities
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong leadership skills
- A willingness to learn
- Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check is Mandatory
