Our clinic can be very fast-paced at times, particularly during busy periods. The ability to stay organized, keep up with a high volume of tasks, multitask effectively, and maintain a positive and professional attitude during busy periods is essential to success in this role.
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Part-Time Medical Receptionist to join our front desk team. The successful candidate must be available for evening and Saturday shifts, with additional availability to provide coverage for staff vacations and occasional sick days as needed.
This is a busy front desk position where priorities can change quickly. The ideal candidate will be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, work efficiently under pressure, and keep up with the pace of a busy clinic without compromising accuracy or patient service.
Key Duties
- Welcome patients and complete check-in procedures in a friendly and professional manner
- Confirm and accurately update patient personal and insurance information
- Answer incoming phone calls and manage general patient inquiries
- Book, adjust, and cancel appointments using JaneApp
- Process payments and submit insurance claims through Telus Health, Provider Connect, Blue Cross, Sun Life, and other insurance portals
- Ensure the accuracy, privacy, and confidentiality of electronic patient records
- Support the clinic’s daily administrative operations and communications
- Participate in staff meetings and continuing education sessions as required
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming clinic environment, including laundering treatment linens
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience working in a healthcare office, specifically a physiotherapy, chiropractic, or foot care clinic
- Experience with JaneApp or a comparable EMR system
- Experience with extended health insurance direct billing and insurance portals
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, busy clinic environment
- Ability to keep up with a high volume of tasks, multitask efficiently, and prioritize competing demands
- Ability to remain focused, organized, and efficient in a busy and occasionally interruptive environment
- Excellent multitasking and organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- Discretion and professionalism when handling confidential health information
- Ability to quickly adapt to and learn new systems and processes
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
- Friendly, professional communication skills and a strong commitment to excellent patient service
