Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Grocery Clerk to join our retail team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining the freshness and presentation of Grocery, assisting customers, and ensuring the Grocery department operates smoothly. Duties
- Stock, organize, and display items to attract customers and maximize sales
- Ensure product is properly labeled, rotated, and maintained for freshness
- Assist customers with inquiries, product locations, and selections in a friendly manner
- Operate equipment such as forklifts when necessary for stocking or moving heavy items
- Maintain cleanliness of the grocery area, including sanitizing displays and workspaces
- Perform cashiering duties as needed to support checkout operations
- Conduct routine maintenance and minor repairs to ensure the grocery section remains organized and functional
- Support merchandising efforts by creating attractive displays that promote seasonal or promotional items
Requirements
- Previous experience in retail sales, merchandising, or food service is preferred
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse shoppers
- Bilingual abilities are advantageous for serving a broader customer base
- Ability to operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely (training provided if needed)
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in stock management and presentation
- Capable of performing cleaning duties to uphold sanitation standards in the produce department
- Basic cashiering skills for processing transactions efficiently
- Good communication skills to coordinate with team members and management
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights when handling produce or supplies
- Grab buggies, carry out and help other departments
