Business Description

Mushroom Producers Co-operative Inc. is a farmer-owned co-operative that produces compost and growing media used in commercial mushroom production. The company operates an agricultural facility that supports mushroom farms throughout Ontario by maintaining consistent production standards and complying with all applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

Overview

We are looking for a motivated Supervisor to become part of our team. The successful candidate will bring experience in agriculture or manufacturing, along with proven leadership and strong problem-solving abilities. If you have previous supervisory experience and excellent communication skills, we encourage you to apply.

Hours may vary based on operational requirements

Position Summary

The Supervisor, Phase I is responsible for the effective oversight and problem resolution of daily operations. In this position, you will help ensure minimal downtime, coordinate repairs, and supervise a team of laborers.

Work Conditions

Long periods of operating equipment and handling product materials
Physically demanding work
Repetitive tasks
Standing for extended periods of time
Early morning starts and variable hours
Overtime hours may be required

Qualifications and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 3 years of experience operating and maintaining a farming operation
Previous experience in a supervisory role is preferred
Strong time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize work
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong mechanical knowledge and problem-solving abilities
Ability to organize and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced work environment
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Tasks and Responsibilities

Oversee the production process to ensure all equipment and machinery are operational and materials are processed according to company standards
Coordinate work assignments, delegate tasks, and train farm workers to ensure production standards are met, equipment is operated safely, and accurate records are maintained
Coordinate all production materials and report any discrepancies to the General Manager
Establish standard work procedures and maintain quality control and production records
Ensure all team members follow safety and production procedures and report performance concerns to the General Manager
Service equipment and machinery, or arrange for servicing, to ensure safe and efficient operation
Ensure all equipment and machinery are sanitized and cleaned regularly
Ensure farm safety and biosecurity procedures are followed
Perform other duties as assigned
