Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Carpenter/Lead Hand to oversee and participate in various construction and renovation projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, technical expertise, and a comprehensive understanding of building processes. This role involves supervising teams, interpreting schematics, and executing tasks across multiple trades including carpentry, masonry, roofing, and more. The Carpenter/Lead Hand will ensure projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to high standards of quality.

Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate construction crews to ensure timely completion of projects
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings
Perform or supervise tasks such as framing, concrete forming, rebar installation, siding, roofing, tile laying, and drywall installation
Operate hand tools, power tools, CNC machinery, and other construction equipment safely and effectively
Conduct restoration work including caulking, painting, and general repairs
Install cabinetry, flooring (including flooring installation), plumbing fixtures, electrical components, and siding
Estimate materials needed for projects and assist with construction estimating processes
Ensure adherence to safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment
Provide mentorship to team members on technical skills such as woodworking, masonry, electrical work, plumbing, and heavy lifting techniques
Assist in project planning and coordinate with clients or project managers as needed

Qualifications

Proven experience in construction trades such as carpentry, masonry, roofing, or related fields
Strong knowledge of blueprint reading and schematics
Hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, CNC machinery, and heavy equipment
Familiarity with construction estimating processes and project management principles
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
Excellent leadership skills with the ability to supervise teams effectively
Knowledge of safety standards in construction environments
Nice-to-have skills include experience with cabinetry installation, tile laying, rebar installation, siding installation, electrical or plumbing work, woodworking, restoration projects, or handyman experience
Valid certifications or licenses related to construction trades are preferred but not mandatory

This position offers an opportunity for a dedicated professional to lead impactful projects while honing their skills across multiple trades within a dynamic construction environment.

Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

Beamsville, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)

Experience:

Carpentry: 4 years (preferred)

Language:

English (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

Driving Licence (required)
