Job Summary:
Must Have:
- Expertise in Windows and/or Linux Server Administration-Strong knowledge of OS installation, configuration, patching, and troubleshooting.
- Virtualization Technologies-Hands-on experience with VMware, Hyper-V, or similar platforms for server virtualization.
- Server Architecture & Design-Ability to design scalable, secure, and high-availability server environments.
- Storage and Backup Solutions-Familiarity with SAN/NAS, backup tools, and disaster recovery planning.
- Networking Fundamentals-Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and integration with server infrastructure.
Good to Have:
- Cloud Platform Experience-Familiarity with Azure, AWS, and or Google Cloud for hybrid or cloud-native server deployments.
- Automation & Scripting-Proficiency in PowerShell, Bash, or Python for automating server tasks and configurations.
- Containerization Technologies-Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes for modern application deployment and orchestration.
- Security Best Practices-Understanding of server hardening, vulnerability management, and compliance frameworks.
- Performance Monitoring & Optimization-Experience with tools like Nagios, Zabbix, Splunk, Grafana, Dynatrace or Prometheus for proactive server health monitoring.
- Experience with Configuration Management Tools-Exposure to Ansible, Jenkins, GitHub for infrastructure as code.
Responsibility of / Expectations from the Role
- Design and Implement Server Infrastructure-Architect scalable, secure, and high-availability server environments based on business requirements.
- Server Administration and Maintenance-Oversee installation, configuration, patching, and troubleshooting of Windows and Linux servers.
- Virtualization and Cloud Integration-Manage virtualization platforms (VM ware, Hyper-V) and integrate with cloud services (Azure, AWS, GCP) for hybrid deployments.
- Performance Monitoring and Optimization-Ensure optimal server performance using monitoring tools and proactive capacity planning.
- Security and Compliance-Implement server hardening, vulnerability management, and ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
- Disaster Recovery and Backup Management-Develop and maintain backup strategies and disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
- Automation and Process Improvement-Utilize scripting and automation tools (PowerShell, Bash, Python) to streamline server operations.
- Collaboration and SME Support-Act as a subject matter expert for server-related issues, guiding project teams and mentoring junior engineers.
