Meadow Valley Meats is a growing food manufacturing company committed to producing safe, high-quality meat and dairy products for customers throughout British Columbia. We are seeking a detail-oriented FSQA/QC Technician to join our Food Safety & Quality Assurance team.
Summary
Reporting to the FSQA Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining food safety, regulatory compliance, and product quality across our processing facilities. This position works closely with production, sanitation, maintenance, and management teams to ensure products are manufactured to the highest standards from receiving through shipping.

Key Responsibilities
Food Safety & HACCP
- Monitor and verify Critical Control Points (CCPs) as defined in HACCP plans
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly operational, GMP, and sanitation inspections
- Maintain HACCP, GMP, SOP, and food safety records
- Identify, investigate, and document non-conformances and deviations
- Participate in internal audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to food safety and quality systems
Product Inspection & Testing
- Perform raw material inspections and product evaluations
- Conduct in-process and finished product testing, including pH, water activity (aw), and composition testing
- Collect environmental and product samples for laboratory analysis
- Evaluate products for appearance, texture, trim quality, labeling, and packaging integrity
- Place non-conforming products on hold and initiate corrective action procedures
- Calibrate and verify quality control equipment including thermometers, scales, and pH meters
- Verify metal detection and X-ray equipment performance according to established schedules
Documentation & Reporting
- Complete QA/QC inspection reports, logs, and CCP records accurately and on time
- Maintain traceability documentation for raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods
- Assist with customer complaint investigations and corrective actions
- Support specification management and label verification activities
Training & Communication
- Train and coach employees on GMPs, food safety requirements, and quality expectations
- Communicate food safety and quality concerns promptly to supervisors and management
- Support a positive food safety culture throughout the organization
Qualifications
Required
- Post-secondary education in Food Science, Biology, Food Technology, or a related field
- Minimum 1 year of experience in food manufacturing, food processing, dairy processing, or meat processing
- HACCP certification (HACCP Alliance, SQF Practitioner, or equivalent)
- Knowledge of HACCP principles, GMPs, sanitation programs, and food safety systems
- Familiarity with SQF, BRCGS, or other recognized food safety certification standards
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal
Preferred
- Experience in federally or provincially regulated meat processing facilities
- Experience with quality management systems (QMS)
- Internal auditor training or audit experience
Work Environment
This position works in both dairy and meat processing environments and will be exposed to:
- Cold and wet conditions (0°C–10°C)
- Loud production equipment
- Strong food-processing odours
- Raw meat and food products
- Fast-paced production environments
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to work throughout processing, production, and warehouse areas
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Ability to perform inspections in active manufacturing environments
