Position Overview

We are hiring a Tooling Technician to join our team. In this role you will organize and maintain the tooling for our tube mills and cutting equipment, prepare and stage tooling for changeovers, and work alongside operators to keep transitions smooth and downtime low. This is a great fit for someone earlier in their career who is mechanically inclined, organized, and safety-minded, and who wants to grow with a young company.

Essential Duties

Organize, clean, and maintain tube mill and cutting tooling, and keep storage areas in order
Inspect tooling and flag worn or damaged items for repair, regrind, or replacement
Stage and prepare tooling ahead of scheduled changeovers to minimize downtime
Support tooling changeovers on mills and cutting equipment, working alongside operators
Maintain tooling records, checklists, and inventory
Assist the maintenance team with preventive maintenance and minor repairs
Adhere to OHSA and company safety standards, including PPE and lockout/tagout procedures
Communicate with mill operators, lead hands, maintenance, and supervisors
Other duties as assigned

Must Haves

High school diploma or equivalent (mechanical or millwright training an asset)
1–3 years in a maintenance, tooling, or mechanical role in a manufacturing environment
Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort with hand and power tools
Ability to use basic precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers), or willingness to learn
Organized, detail-oriented, and reliable
Punctual and safety-focused

Nice to Haves

Experience with tube mill tooling such as rolls, fins, and mandrels
Millwright or mechanical apprenticeship/certification
Forklift or overhead crane certification
Previous experience in steel or tube manufacturing

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods, including during changeovers
Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs, with lifting aids used for heavier tooling
Comfortable working in a loud, industrial environment with moving machinery
