Established in 1973 and incorporated in 1974, D.G. Biddle & Associates Limited provides Consulting Engineering services in Southern Ontario, mainly in the Durham Region and surrounding area. The company has a staff of approximately 50, including Professional Engineers, Planners, Technicians, Administrative and Field Personnel providing Civil, Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering services to both private and public clients.
Role Summary:
The Draftsperson will support the design and documentation of industrial, commercial, and office building projects by producing accurate, detailed, and coordinated drawings using AutoCAD and Revit. Working under the direction of project building designers and engineers, the Draftsperson will translate design concepts, technical requirements, and markups into clear construction documents that meet project standards, building codes, and client expectations.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed designs for construction drawings using AutoCAD and Revit for new buildings, additions, and interior fit‑outs.
- Develop and maintain Revit models, ensuring accuracy, coordination, and adherence to office standards.
- Produce plans, elevations, sections, details, schedules, and other technical documents required for permit, tender, and construction.
- Incorporate redlines, design revisions, and technical markups from building designers, engineers, and project managers.
- Maintain drawing organization, file management, and version control according to office protocols.
- Conduct basic code-related drafting tasks (e.g., clearances, accessibility layouts, exiting diagrams) under guidance.
- Support the preparation of tender packages and construction document sets.
- Participate in internal design reviews and contribute to improving drafting standards and workflows.
Qualifications:
- Diploma in Architectural Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related drafting discipline.
- 2–5 years of drafting experience in an architectural, engineering, or design office (industrial/commercial experience is an asset).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit is required; experience with BIM workflows is strongly preferred.
- Understanding of building construction, materials, assemblies, and detailing.
- Familiarity with Ontario Building Code requirements is an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and engineering drawings.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Additional Assets (Optional but Valuable):
- Experience with Bluebeam, or other coordination tools.
- Experience preparing tender and permit drawing packages.
- Exposure to industrial or commercial building projects.

Pay: $55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
