Job Summary: The Manager, Talent Acquisition provides strategic leadership and expert guidance for recruitment across the University within a decentralized recruitment model. In this context, the role is accountable for advancing recruitment practices that are consistent, inclusive, compliant, and aligned with institutional priorities, while providing governance, consultation, and support to hiring leaders across Faculties and administrative units. The Manager leads a small central team, oversees key recruitment systems and partnerships, and helps strengthen the University’s employer brand and overall hiring experience.
What You'll Do

Provide leadership to the central Talent Acquisition team, including setting priorities, supporting development, and ensuring high-quality service delivery

Lead and evolve the University’s talent acquisition framework, standards, and tools to support effective recruitment across Faculties and administrative units within a decentralized recruitment model

Provide strategic advice and consultative support to hiring managers, search committees, and senior leaders on recruitment planning, market conditions, and complex hiring matters

Promote inclusive, equitable, and accessible hiring practices that align with legislation, collective agreements, and institutional commitments

Oversee recruitment systems, reporting, vendor relationships, and employer branding initiatives to strengthen the candidate and hiring manager experience

Monitor recruitment trends, metrics, and service needs to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and inform decision-making

Leverage AI-enabled tools and emerging technologies to enhance the talent acquisition service model, improve operational efficiency, and support a high-quality hiring experience

Foster strong partnerships across the University to support consistent, responsive, and strategic talent acquisition practices

What You'll Bring
-
University degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, or a related field

7-10 years of progressive talent acquisition or relevant experience, ideally in a unionized post-secondary or broader public-sector environment

An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered

Experience supporting or operating within a decentralized recruitment model, with the ability to guide complex or committee-based hiring processes

Strong knowledge of employment legislation, collective agreements, and inclusive hiring practices

Demonstrated experience providing strategic leadership and guidance on recruitment-related grievances and complex labour relations matters

Excellent advisory, relationship-building, communication, and analytical skills

CHRP or CHRL designation is considered an asset
