Full job description

We are looking for awesome, self-driven Personal Support Workers to work throughout the Durham Region. Please note, we are only looking to proceed with candidates who have full-time availability and meet the scheduling requirements below.

Scheduling Requirements:

FT Position available: PSW must be available for 37.5-40 hours of work per week

MUST be available Monday-Friday, flexibility for day, evening, and overnight shifts preferred.
MUST be able to commit to a consistent, ongoing, weekly schedule for the foreseeable future
available and willing to see multiple clients throughout the day

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide personal care to clients as outlined in their care plans.
Provide companionship and light housekeeping (whatever it takes to help a person stay at home).
Prepare meals in accordance to the client and/or the family's request (must be open to preparing different kinds of cuisine).
Adhere to providing personal care and help clients with their ADLs that is within the scope of practice for a Personal Support Worker
Assists clients in all activities of daily living/ hygiene assistance, bathing, grooming, linen changes and so forth.
Assists clients with transfers, ambulation and exercises.
Meets the safety needs of the client and uses equipment safely and properly.
Functions within the limits of own experience and knowledge, and practices safely and competently within the job description.
Completes records and documentations accurately and thoroughly.

Requirements

MUST have a valid driver's license and reliable access to a car that can be used for daily work
Ability to travel between assignments within designated areas of work, an asset if you can travel to rural/remote areas.
Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in English
PSW certification from an approved and recognized educational institution or International nursing/ doctorate Certification

Negative TB Test completed within the last year
Valid CPR/First Aid Certificate
Valid WHMIS2015 Certificate of Completion
COVID Vaccination Receipts subject to an exemption pursuant to Ontario’s Human Rights Code
Immunization for measles, rubella, varicella, tetanus, and Diphtheria REQUIRED, immunization of Hepatitis B is strongly urged.
Valid Criminal Record Check - must be completed within the last year.
Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in English
Ability to identify and report client care concerns to Care Coordinators when needed.
Requires good judgement, the ability to work independently, and work cooperatively with an interdisciplinary team
Current/Valid Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA) Registration an asset
