The
Senior Cable Technician is a senior field resource responsible for leading and executing structured cabling and low-voltage infrastructure installations to Compugen quality and safety standards. This role performs complex installations, supports jobsite coordination, mentors junior technicians, and ensures work is completed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with industry standards, customer requirements, and project documentation.
Field Installation & Technical Execution
- Install, terminate, test, and label copper and fiber cabling systems, including Cat6/Cat6A, fiber (MM/SM), and related connectivity.

Perform pathway and infrastructure work including J-hooks, ladder rack, cable tray, conduit support, sleeves, firestopping, grounding/bonding, and equipment mounting.

Build and dress telecommunications rooms (TR/IDF/MDF), including rack/cabinet installs, patch panels, cable management, and patching to design standards.

Interpret drawings, SOWs, and specifications (RCDD-driven designs, floorplans, riser diagrams, details), and coordinate field execution accordingly.

Identify scope gaps and field conditions; escalate risks early and support change documentation (RFI/CO inputs).

Testing, QA/QC, and Documentation

Test and certify cabling systems using approved tools (e.g., Fluke DSX for copper certification; OLTS/OTDR as required for fiber).

Ensure compliance with applicable standards and best practices (TIA/EIA, BICSI, manufacturer guidelines).

Produce accurate closeout documentation including test results, as-built markups, labeling schedules, and photo records.

Maintain workmanship standards: bend radius, separation, dressing, labeling, grounding, and pathway integrity.
Site Leadership & Coordination
- Lead small crews on-site; assign tasks, coach technicians, and verify quality before handoff to the customer/PM.

Coordinate daily with project management, site contacts, and other trades to maintain schedule and site access.

Ensure tool/material readiness; validate BOM needs; support staging and material control to reduce downtime.

Uphold safety requirements, site rules, and field processes; participate in toolbox talks and hazard assessments
- 5+ years of structured cabling / low-voltage installation experience in commercial or enterprise environments.

Demonstrated experience leading installations in active construction sites and/or occupied buildings.

Strong competency in copper termination, rack buildouts, labeling standards, and pathway installation.

Hands-on experience with cable certification and interpreting test results to identify faults and remediation steps.

Ability to read prints, follow installation standards, and produce accurate documentation.

Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to client sites.
Preferred Certifications / Assets
- BICSI Technician (TECH) / Installer (INST1/INST2) / higher is an asset.

FOA certifications (CFOT, CFOS/T, etc.) are an asset.

Manufacturer certifications (CommScope, Panduit, Leviton, Corning, etc.) are an asset.

Lift / Working at Heights, WHMIS, First Aid, and site safety training are assets.

Experience with access control, CCTV rough-in, or Wi-Fi/AP deployments is an asset.
