Full job description

Our client, a leading organization in the energy sector, is seeking an experienced Finance Controller to join their team in Oshawa, Ontario.

This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a senior finance professional with experience in a complex, operational, and capital-intensive environment. The ideal candidate will have a background in nuclear, utilities, mining, manufacturing, or a similar industry.

Please note: This is a fully on-site position based in Oshawa, Ontario.

15% annual performance bonus

Responsibilities

Lead and develop a team of finance and controllership professionals while serving as a key financial advisor to senior leadership.
Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial controls for a large and complex business unit.
Partner with operational leaders on capital planning, business cases, investments, and strategic initiatives.
Ensure strong financial governance, internal controls, audit readiness, and risk management.
Provide financial insights and recommendations to support operational and strategic decision-making.
Drive continuous improvement across financial processes, systems, and reporting.

Qualifications

CPA designation or internationally recognized equivalent.
8-10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience within a complex organization.
Previous leadership experience managing finance, accounting, or controllership teams.
Strong experience across financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
Experience partnering with senior operational/business leaders.
Strong communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
Experience in nuclear, utilities, energy, mining, automotive, manufacturing, or another capital-intensive industry is strongly preferred.
Experience with capital planning, business cases, or major projects/investments is an asset.
