What is the Opportunity?
As part of an alliance agreement, Aecon has been awarded a contract in an Aecon-led partnership with Kiewit Nuclear Canada by Ontario Power Generation (OPG) for the execution phase on the Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP) in Clarington, Ontario. Beginning in 2025 Aecon will support the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site.
The Tunnel Surveyor will report directly to the Tunnel Lead Surveyor.
What You'll Do Here:
- Complete various field survey requests and measurements assigned, including but not limited to:
- Total Station accurate set of angels and high accuracy levelling loops for tunnel control network maintenance.
- Total Station/3D scanner operation for Ring As-Builts.
- Other underground survey layouts and as-builts as for crossings.
- TBM guidance (VMT).
- Other Tunnel and Surface works as required.
- Setup and configure survey equipment.
- Ensure equipment is maintained and calibrated.
- Maintain and verify provided control network.
- Assist in the evaluation of potential field problems, quantity calculations and quality control.
- Maintain accurate survey notes and records, documentation, and stamped submittals.
- Monitor work being completed in the field where surveying techniques are required.
- Communicate with operations, engineers, and subcontractors to complete surveying tasks.
- Manage As Built information and digital records.
What You Bring to the Team:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Tunnel Surveying, including TBM guidance systems. VMT/Herrenknecht preferred.
- Post-secondary education in Surveying or Geomatics is preferred.
- Knowledge of survey practices and standards.
- Construction experience in Civil, Structural, Utilities and other areas preferred.
- Must have a solid understanding of safety requirements on an active construction site and applicable safety policies.
- Good computer skills and proficiency in the use of office, data, surveying and CAD software.
- Maintains physical fitness and mental readiness essential for working safely and efficiently underground.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach and lift 35 kg/75 lbs.
- Able to work on rotational shifts of up to 12 hours.

The expected pay range for this role is $75,000 - $100,000 per year
Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
