Job Purpose
Reporting to the Credit Supervisor, the Credit Analyst is responsible for reviewing and analyzing credit applications to assess customer risk and support sound lending decisions in accordance with established credit policies and procedures. The role contributes to the loan origination process by evaluating creditworthiness, structuring loan terms, supporting fraud mitigation efforts, and providing service to dealer partners, while ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal requirements. The Credit Analyst operates within defined credit policies, exercises judgment on routine and occasionally complex applications, and escalates exceptions or higher-risk decisions in accordance with established guidelines.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Credit Analysis, Risk Assessment & Compliance
- Review and analyze credit applications to assess customer creditworthiness and associated risk.
- Structure loan terms and calculations in accordance with credit policy and approved lending parameters.
- Apply the Credit Admission Policy (CAP) and related credit procedures consistently when reviewing and decisioning applications.
- Identify higher-risk, non-standard, or exception scenarios and escalate for further review as required.
- Support fraud mitigation efforts by analyzing trends and identifying anomalies within credit applications.
- Maintain working knowledge of credit policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliant decision-making.
Dealer & Internal Support
- Provide customer service to dealership partners through portal notes, phone calls, and email correspondence.
- Respond to internal and cross-functional inquiries related to credit decisions, application status, or documentation.
- Support efficient processing of loan applications through timely and accurate review.
Qualification
- High school diploma or equivalent is required
Experience, Skills & Competencies
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a credit, lending, or financial services role.
Skills:
- Typing speed of 45+ words per minute.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- General computer proficiency, including use of shortcuts and hotkeys.
- Ability to perform basic math functions and loan-related calculations accurately.
- Fluent in French - requirement.
Competencies:
- Attention to detail and accuracy when reviewing credit applications, calculations, and supporting documentation.
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving to assess credit risk, identify issues, and apply policy-based decisions.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills when interacting with dealers and internal stakeholders.
- Customer focus and service orientation to support dealership partners and timely loan processing.
- Confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive customer, financial, and credit information.
Hours of Work:
Shift: Monday- Friday 8:00am-5:00pm. 1 late night a week. 1-2 Saturdays a month.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
- Work is performed primarily in an office environment with extended periods of sitting and screen time.
- Requires sustained mental concentration, frequent task switching and multi-tasking under deadlines.
- No travel is required.
