Industrial Painter/Spray Painter – Day Shift

M&G Millwrights | Elmira, ON | Full-time, Permanent | $26-$29 per hour

Job description

M&G Millwrights is hiring an experienced Industrial Painter / Spray Painter to join our fabrication team in Elmira. This is a full-time, permanent, shop-based role on the day shift.

Since 1967, M&G Millwrights has provided millwright, welding, fabrication, custom machinery, conveyor system, and plant expansion services across a range of industries. We are looking for someone who takes pride in quality workmanship, works safely, and wants to be part of a practical, team-focused shop environment.

· Day shift

· Full-time, permanent position

· Shop-based work in Elmira

· 44-hour week with an early Friday finish

· Industrial/fabrication environment

What you’ll do

In this role, you will prepare, coat, inspect, and finish custom-fabricated mild-steel assemblies and other industrial surfaces.

· Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, grinding, masking, and removing rust, scale, oil, or other contaminants

· Apply primers, sealers, intermediate coats, and finish coats using spray equipment and brushes

· Use electrostatic and air-assisted airless spray equipment

· Mix, strain, and thin paints according to work orders, product data sheets, and manufacturer instructions

· Inspect finished work for coverage, colour, gloss, texture, and overall quality

· Identify paint defects such as runs, sags, overspray, orange peel, fisheyes, pinholes, poor adhesion, missed areas, or thin coverage

· Use inspection tools such as wet-film gauges and dry-film thickness gauges when required

· Maintain spray guns, hoses, pumps, brushes, paint booth, ventilation equipment, and assigned PPE

· Handle, store, label, and dispose of paints, solvents, and waste according to WHMIS, safety data sheets, and company procedures

· Maintain paint inventory, equipment condition, cleaning logs, product data sheets and coating records

What we’re looking for

Successful candidates will bring:

· Industrial painting or coating experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or similar shop environment

· Experience using electrostatic, air-assisted airless, pot gun, or similar spray equipment

· Knowledge of surface preparation, primers, topcoats, solvents, mixing ratios, recoat windows, and curing requirements

· Ability to recognize paint and coating defects

· Strong attention to detail and pride in producing a clean, consistent finish

· Ability to read work orders, product data sheets, safety data sheets, and coating specifications

· Ability to keep accurate records

· Reliable attendance, safe work habits, and good communication skills

Schedule and work environment

· Shop-based role at 1540 Floradale Road, Elmira

· Day shift: Monday to Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

· Must be able to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lb., bend, and crouch

· Respirator use is required. Candidates must be able to meet respirator fit-testing requirements and follow all related safety procedures.

· Work is performed in a manufacturing shop and paint-booth environment
