OVERVIEW:

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are currently looking for a Controller to join our Finance Department. The Controller partners with the CFO & Finance team to deliver timely financial data and strategic insights to the leadership team through financial reporting packages as well as timely and efficient month end close procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Management & Reporting

Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Oversee financial department employees, including financial accountants and assistants.
Lead the annual budgeting process and manage rolling financial forecasts across all departments.
Provide detailed variance analysis (Actual vs. Budget) to the leadership team and department heads.
Manage cash flow, treasury functions, and working capital requirements.
Manage and comply with tax reporting requirements and tax filings (corporate tax, HST, payroll tax, etc.).

Operations & Internal Controls

Oversee daily revenue auditing, including Point of Sale (POS) reconciliations for golf tee times, pro shop retail, F&B, and Hospitality.
Establish, monitor, and enforce robust internal control policies to safeguard resort assets and minimize shrinkage.
Manage F&B and retail inventory controls, performing regular physical audits alongside department managers.
Oversee the accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and payroll functions.

Operational Partnership

Partner with department leaders in Golf Operations, Hospitality, Food & Beverage, Events, and Property Operations.
Develop financial reporting tools and KPIs for business units.
Identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and revenue enhancement.
Support pricing and revenue strategies, and margin/profitability analysis.

Qualification & Skills:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Hospitality Management required. CPA, or CMA designation is highly preferred.
Experience: 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, with experience in a supervisory role within a resort, hotel, country club, or golf course environment being an asset.
Technical Savvy: Proficiency with hospitality/golf management software and property management systems (PMS) is heavily weighted. Advanced Excel skills are a must.

Collaborative Leadership: Able to communicate financial concepts clearly to non-financial managers to help them hit their targets.
Adaptability: Comfortable balancing the shoulder seasons with the high-volume, fast paced peak seasons.
