Position Summary

As a Speech Language Pathology Consultant, you will play an integral part of the Tevie Miller Heritage School Program team. In this trans-disciplinary role, your work will focus on enhancing the educational experience and communicative success of students with diverse learning needs in Grades 1-12. In collaboration with the teacher and educational assistant, you will support the planning and implementation of individualized language and literacy programming.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

providing consultative services and supports to schools and families for children in Grade 1 classrooms through to Grade 12 who have speech and/or language difficulties
providing intervention and assessments
recommending appropriate communication systems and programming for students with complex learning needs through collaborative partnerships with teachers and other professionals
training, coaching and mentoring educational assistants and speech language assistants in the implementation of targeted and specialized strategies
providing expertise to the learning team in the areas of specific communication disorders, expressive language, receptive language, literacy, social communication, speech sound production, assistive technology, and augmentative and alternative communication
discussing, demonstrating, modeling and providing communication strategies to support adaptations and modifications of the curriculum

Education/Qualifications

Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology
registered with Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists
fluency in American Sign Language
minimum of three years related experience in classroom-based service delivery to children
excellent communication, collaboration and consultative skills
experience with Alternative and Augmentative Communication methods

Rate of Pay

$52.52 - $67.17 per hour
