This organization manufactures workplace furniture solutions supporting corporate, healthcare, educational, and institutional sectors across North America.
This is not a transactional purchasing role focused only on placing orders.
This role manages interconnected procurement and production workflows where materials move through multiple suppliers, dependent purchasing stages, outsourced processes, and production timelines. Timing, sequencing, accuracy, and supplier follow through directly impact manufacturing output and customer shipments.
Most products are custom built.
You will manage procurement activities tied to fabrics, foam, substrates, acrylic, glass, adhesives, hardware, packaging materials, MRO supplies, sub assemblies, outsourced manufacturing processes, and operational materials.
The right person is highly organized, process oriented, detail driven, and comfortable managing multiple active workflows simultaneously without losing track of sequencing, supplier follow up, or downstream production impact.
Responsibilities
- Manage end to end procurement activities for raw materials, components, sub assemblies, packaging, MRO supplies, and outsourced production processes
- Oversee multi step purchasing workflows where one order triggers dependent follow up actions across multiple suppliers and production stages
- Ensure no missed purchasing steps tied to manufacturing flow, outsourced processing, or production sequencing
- Coordinate purchasing schedules aligned to production requirements, inventory availability, and customer delivery timelines
- Support inventory planning, replenishment activities, and material availability aligned to production schedules and customer delivery requirements
- Coordinate BOM driven purchasing requirements and manage lead time planning across multiple suppliers and production stages
- Source, negotiate, and manage suppliers for materials including fabrics, foam, substrates, adhesives, hardware, acrylic, glass, and operational supplies
- Manage supplier coordination, expediting activities, supplier claims, and NCMR related follow ups supporting uninterrupted operations
- Monitor inventory levels and material availability in a just in time manufacturing environment with minimal excess stock
- Track all active purchase orders and supplier commitments across multiple concurrent workflows
- Ensure purchase orders, specifications, measurements, and material requirements are accurate before release
- Execute RFx sourcing initiatives, supplier negotiations, and procurement activities supporting cost control and sourcing efficiency objectives
- Analyze purchasing spend, supplier performance, shortages, and procurement risks to support operational decision making
- Develop and monitor supplier KPIs and vendor scorecards focused on delivery performance, responsiveness, quality, and corrective action follow through
- Perform root cause analysis on supply disruptions, shortages, or quality concerns and coordinate supplier corrective actions where required
- Support procurement operations and material planning activities to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing flow
- Support demand forecasting and purchasing strategies tied to changing production requirements and customer demand patterns
- Collaborate cross functionally with engineering, production, planning, scheduling, logistics, operations, and finance teams to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations
- Resolve purchasing issues proactively before they impact manufacturing schedules or customer shipments
Qualifications
- 4 to 7+ years of purchasing or procurement experience within a manufacturing environment
- Strong experience supporting production driven purchasing, inventory coordination, or supply chain operations
- Strong ability to manage structured workflows with multiple dependent purchasing steps tied to custom manufacturing operations
- Experience supporting inventory planning, replenishment, and material forecasting activities within manufacturing

- Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, or similar platforms
- Strong Excel skills with the ability to track multiple concurrent purchasing activities
- Strong attention to detail with high accuracy in purchase orders, specifications, quantities, and supplier follow ups
- Comfortable working in a fully metric manufacturing environment and validating material requirements where needed
- Strong communication skills with suppliers, production, operations, scheduling, and cross functional teams
- Ability to manage multiple active orders and supplier follow ups in a fast paced environment without losing workflow accuracy
- Strong cross functional collaboration skills within production driven manufacturing environments
Nice to Have
