HSE ADVISORS - Work Hard! Play Hard!
We are actively recruiting for an experienced, results-driven, Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Advisor, in our Fort McKay location.
As a HSE Advisor YOU will:
- Assist site teams and managers in recognizing hazards
- Assist to control, minimize and/or eliminate hazards
- Focus on maintaining and improving health, safety, environmental and quality standards
- Champion OH&S initiatives in the workplace while ensuring legislation is adhered to
- Support and promote the value of the HSE program
- Provide consistent and accurate HSE advice to all team members
- Provide support on HSE issues/problems
- Participate in investigations
- Produce and communicate safety alerts to promote learning and prevention
- Assist in collecting, maintaining and tracking data to identify trends and take proactive initiatives

The HSE Advisors will be expected to work 12 hours per day; starting at 6:45. Shift rotation is 14 days on, followed by 14 days off.

An excellent HSE Advisor will manage all safety and environmental compliance within the Mine Site and Maintenance Divisions to ensure adherence to Heavy Metal and client process, policy and procedures. Our HSE Advisors will be motivated, committed and wants to grow with us.
What we need from YOU:
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in OH&S
- National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) through Alberta Construction Safety Association (ACSA)
- Engagement in field operations and observations
- Excellent knowledge of best practice OH&S procedures
- Ability to understand and contribute to the development of policies and procedures
- Demonstrated ability to proactively build a strong network of relationships and partnerships
- Extensive knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, Workers Compensation, as well as related Federal, Provincial and Municipal regulations and legislation
- Experience in Root Cause Analysis
- Ability to work independently with significant initiative
- Working knowledge of the mining industry and application of equipment therein
- Experience developing and leading successful change initiatives
- Strong influencing and collaboration skills at all levels of the organization
- Ability to use systems, tools and organizational skills to work independently, organize workload and set priorities appropriately
- Allow for flexibility to meet constantly changing and challenging deadlines
- Intermediate computer skills (MS Office, including Excel and Word) are essential
Additional Assets:
- Experience with Syncrude LPS Training
- Knowledge of Fuel & Lube Maintenance Services
As part of our Hiring Process, YOU will be asked to:
- Provide a minimum of a Class 5 Driver's License and clean Driver's Abstract
- Provide a criminal record check
- Complete drug and alcohol screening with a negative result
- Complete a fitness evaluation related specifically to your position
- Provide copies of current certifications (if you do not have any of the training required to be on site, we will provide it for you)
