Overview
Coastal Care Veterinary Emergency & Referral Hospital is looking for a collaborative
and professional Registered Veterinary Technician with a fascination for
Ophthalmology to join our specialty team. This position requires a driven individual
with attention to detail and who is a self- starter and able to work in a fast-paced
environment. The ideal candidate must be computer literate and have multi-tasking and
time management skills. The ideal candidate values maintaining a collegial working

the organization to deliver high standards of medicine and exceptional patient care.
This role will allow for a compressed work week with four 10-hour shifts, Monday
through Thursday.
Duties and Responsibilities - Performs all technical responsibilities of a RVT including:
● Usage and care of specialized medical equipment, as well as sterilization
techniques.
● Placing IV catheters; calculating drug doses, fluid requirements and CRIs.
● Producing diagnostic imaging.
● Performing advanced diagnostic tests.
● Assisting in surgeries.
● Managing hospitalized patients, performing recovery care and additional
specialized treatments.
● Provides education and home care instructions to clients.
● Navigates practice software including client and patient record management.
● Follows all SOPs to support smooth hospital operations.
● Follows all federal and provincial animal health laws and regulations regarding
workplace health and safety.
● Prioritize interdepartmental synergy by maintaining open lines of communication
with other departments.
● Understanding and performing anesthesia, post-anesthetic recovery of patients.
Other duties may be assigned as required.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
Education and Experience
● Animal Health Technology college diploma.
● Successful completion of VTNE
● 1-2 years experience in a clinical setting.
● In good standing with licensing bodies (EVTA and NSVMA)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
● Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
● Proven active listening and problem-solving skills.
● Understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information professionally.
● Strong time management and organizational skills including the abilities to plan,
coordinate, multitask and prioritize.
