Panel Technician
Job Description
The Panel Technician assembles, wires, and tests electrical control panels in a manufacturing environment, working from schematics and wiring diagrams. This role focuses on precise panel wiring and assembly, development and refinement of Standard Operating Procedures, and hands-on quality checks and basic electrical testing. The Panel Technician collaborates closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to support both production and prototype builds while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities

Perform wire harnessing, routing, labeling, and termination of conductors according to schematics and wiring diagrams.

Fit, cut, drill, and mount buttons, switches, relays, terminal blocks, and other electrical components inside control panels.

Assemble and install wiring looms, cable trays, and protective coverings to ensure neat and secure cable management.

Ensure all wiring and assembly work meets internal quality standards and industry best practices.

Work closely with engineers to develop, refine, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for new and existing projects.

Provide feedback to engineering on manufacturability, wiring layout, and component placement to improve panel design and build efficiency.

Assist in documenting build processes, wiring changes, and panel revisions for accurate and up-to-date records.

Perform continuity checks, point-to-point verification, and basic electrical testing on completed panels.

Inspect completed panels for accuracy, safety, and compliance with specifications and applicable standards.

Troubleshoot wiring issues, identify root causes, and support corrective actions to resolve problems effectively.

Collaborate and communicate effectively with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of projects.

Support prototype builds and contribute to design improvements by sharing hands-on insights from the production floor.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, following all safety guidelines and housekeeping practices.
Essential Skills

At least 4 years of control panel wiring experience in a manufacturing or similar environment.

Electrical or Electronic Diploma or Degree.

Strong knowledge of electricity, currents, and basic electrical principles.

Ability to read, interpret, and work from electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.

Ability to understand and assist in building schematics and Standard Operating Procedures.

Hands-on experience with panel wiring, including routing, labeling, and termination.

Mechanical aptitude to fit, cut, drill, and mount electrical components within control panels.

Capability to perform continuity checks, point-to-point verification, and basic electrical testing.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as part of daily duties.

Effective communication skills to work with engineering, production, and quality teams.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, safety, and quality.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience with electrical testing in a production or test environment.

Familiarity with production processes in a manufacturing setting.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and detailed technical drawings.

Experience using precision measuring tools such as micrometers.

Background as a tester or technician in an electrical or electronics environment.

Work Environment
This position is based in a manufacturing facility with a team of over 25 employees working on the plant floor. The environment is hands-on and production-focused, with close collaboration among engineering, production, and quality teams. Work is performed around electrical and mechanical equipment in a shop setting, following standard safety practices and housekeeping expectations.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00/hr.
