Full job description

Role Overview

This position is ideal for an experienced Outside Sales Representative who has worked with building products and is comfortable selling into both residential and commercial construction markets. The role focuses on business development, relationship management, and hands-on product education with contractors, builders, and other trade professionals across BC. It involves extensive travel, high independence, and a mix of technical demonstrations and sales support.

Requirements:

Proven outside sales experience in Canadian construction or building-materials sectors (e.g., roofing, fenestration, exterior products, mechanical/electrical, engineered components, or similar).
Strong background in territory management, dealer or contractor relationships, and building new business.
Ability to discuss installation considerations, technical features, and jobsite requirements with trade professionals.
Confident delivering product demos, training sessions, and small group presentations.
Able to climb ladders, work at heights comfortably, and lift 50+ lbs occasionally.
Valid BC driver’s licence with a clean abstract.
Proficiency with CRM systems and MS Office.
Willing and able to travel 4 days per week with regular overnight stays; occasional evenings/weekends for events.
Comfortable working independently for long stretches.

Nice‑to‑Haves:

Experience selling specialty building components, value‑add construction hardware, or products requiring installation training.
Prior exposure to dealer networks, distribution models, or contractor training programs.
Experience working trade shows and industry events.

Responsibilities:

Build long‑term relationships with contractors, builders, roofers, architects, and other construction stakeholders across your territory.
Assess customer needs and recommend solutions from a diverse line of commercial and residential building products.
Manage an established territory while identifying new business opportunities with both existing and new accounts.
Plan and execute a structured territory plan to meet sales objectives.
Deliver product knowledge sessions, installation training, and small group presentations as required.
Provide occasional on‑site support for installed products when needed.
Log activities, opportunities, and territory updates using the company’s CRM.
Participate in trade shows and home shows as assigned.
Perform other related duties as needed.

A technically minded person who’s comfortable with tools, safe ladder usage, and hands-on product demos.
Someone energized by both hunting for new opportunities and supporting existing dealer networks.
Not suited for candidates seeking office-based sales roles or those without construction-industry field sales experience.

Benefits:

Base salary: $65,000 annually + commission = 75k OTE
Company vehicle provided (personal + business use)
