About This Role
At Respite Edmonton, we support children and youth with a range of developmental, behavioural and emotional support needs in home and community settings across Leduc.
This is flexible part-time and casual work that can fit around school, another job, or family life.
If you enjoy spending time with kids, being active, and helping create positive, everyday experiences, this could be a great fit.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll spend time one-on-one with children and youth in everyday settings such as:
- going on community outings (parks, walks, activities)
- playing games, sports, or doing creative activities
- supporting routines like meals, homework, and transitions
- encouraging confidence, independence, and engagement
- helping create calm, positive, structured time
Some shifts are active and social, while others are quieter and more routine-based.
What a Shift Can Look Like
This is hands-on support in real-world environments.
You might:
- go for a walk and grab a snack
- play basketball or board games
- support after-school routines
- help a child transition between activities
- spend time talking and engaging in simple activities
Support needs can vary depending on the child or youth. Some shifts are more activity-based, while others may require more structure, patience, and individualized support.

Requirements
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License (preferred)
- Reliable transportation (preferred)
- $2 million Alberta Auto Insurance Liability Coverage (if driving)
- Criminal record check with vulnerable sector (can be completed upon offer)
- Clear Child Intervention Check (can be completed upon offer)
- First Aid & CPR Level C (can be completed upon offer)
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification is considered an asset
Physical Requirements
- Comfortable staying active during shifts
- Able to participate in home and community activities
- Able to support light physical movement when needed
