Job Summary
The Production Planner is responsible for developing and managing production schedules that align with product demand, customer expectations, storage capacity, and internal production capabilities. This role works closely with the production team to ensure efficient planning and execution of manufacturing activities.
The Production Planner uses internal systems and scheduling tools to create accurate forecasts and production plans across multiple time horizons, supporting both operational efficiency and service level targets. This position plays a key role in balancing demand with available resources while identifying and addressing potential capacity or scheduling constraints.
Key Responsibilities
Production Scheduling & Planning
- Develop production schedules across multiple timeframes, including weekly, monthly, and quarterly plans
- Create and maintain “off-season” production build plans
- Align production schedules with customer demand, inventory requirements, and operational capacity
- Ensure schedules reflect realistic production capabilities and resource availability
Forecasting & Demand Planning
- Develop and maintain production forecasts based on customer demand and internal data
- Collaborate with internal teams to gather and validate planning inputs
- Continuously refine forecasts to improve accuracy and responsiveness to demand changes
Capacity & Performance Analysis
- Monitor and evaluate production capacity utilization
- Analyze future demand to identify potential production or storage constraints
- Monitor daily production activity against the schedule and escalate issues as required
- Identify risks and recommend adjustments to maintain schedule adherence
Systems & Process Improvement
- Utilize internal ERP and scheduling systems to manage production planning activities
- Support system implementation initiatives and planning tool enhancements as required
- Contribute to ongoing improvements in planning processes and operational efficiency
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in production planning or similar role within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Experience working with ERP systems; experience with Syspro is considered an asset
- Strong computer literacy and proficiency with planning and scheduling tools
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving abilities
- Highly action-oriented with the ability to take ownership and execute tasks effectively
- Professional approach with strong attention to detail and accountability

Compensation
At Chapman’s, compensation is guided by a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes and rewards individual contributions.
Salary
$60,000 to $74,000 salary range.
In addition to wages, employees will be eligible for:
