Alamos Gold Inc. Young-Davidson is currently recruiting the following challenging position to join our operations team:

Underground Construction Miner - Construction

We currently operate three mines – two in Canada and one in Mexico – and we have a strong portfolio of development stage projects, including the Lynn Lake Project and Island Gold Phase 3+ Expansion in Canada, and Puerto Del Aire Project in Mexico. Alamos also has an early-stage exploration project in Canada, the Qiqavik Gold Project. Alamos Gold’s Young-Davidson is a low-cost, long-life operation and one of Canada’s largest underground gold mines. It is located near the town of Matachewan centrally located between Timmins, Kirkland Lake, North Bay and Sudbury, Ontario. The 2020 completion of a highly automated, lower mine expansion has resulted in Young-Davidson increasing production and generating strong free cash flow. With a large Mineral Reserve base, it will serve as Alamos’ foundation for growth for many years to come. This is a very exciting time at Young-Davidson, and we are searching for highly motivated and committed people to join our team!

Reporting to Supervisor, Mine Operations, the successful candidate will be responsible for safe and efficient completion of underground construction projects.

Primary Responsibilities:

Scaling and doing pre-operation inspection of work site;
Filling 5 point card and maintain accurate operating records, including daily work reports;
Install ground support with handheld equipment when required;
Apply shotcrete (dry).
Install/build ventilation control walls.
Install fans and ventilation ducts.
Install and maintain mine services (air, water and pumping).
Install/build pumping installation (dams, stationary pumping stations, weirs etc…).
Install bumper blocks.
Build general mine infrastructure (refuges, ESS, storages, mags, ventilation door, shops etc…).
Inspect work during and after completion and ensure result is following prints and standards.
Contribute to and establish effective workplace relationships.
Provide workplace status update to relevant people at the end of shift (supervisor and coworkers)
Provide mentorship and guidance to less experienced crew members
Support construction supervisor by doing site inspections, QA/QC, establish methodology in construction context etc;
All other tasks as directed by supervisor

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

A minimum of 3 years construction experience in mining operations;
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently;
Strong experience in construction/carpentry, concrete, welding work.
Ability to read and understand engineering prints (civil work, structural work, rock excavation work)
Exhibit high attention to detail and high standards
Good communication skills, coupled with strong leadership abilities; and
Qualified as train the trainer would be an asset.

Schedule: 10h shifts, following a 7/7 rotating schedule

Pay or shift range: $40.23 CAD to $46.20 CAD / hour

The expected salary range for this role is intended to support transparency and informed decision making. Final compensation will be based on skills, experience and internal equity.
