Nutrition & Food Services Manager – Faithstone Manor & Gardens (Hamilton, ON)

The Organization: Shalom Manor & Gardens is a faith-based, non-profit organization that is home to 144 residents living in long-term care and 36 assisted living suites in Grimsby.

Faithstone Manor & Gardens will be the second community of Shalom. It will be located in Hamilton and is expected to open in Spring/Summer 2027. It will include 188 long-term care beds (Faithstone Manor), 72 assisted living suites (Faithstone Gardens), a robust Village Centre and a daycare to open in Spring/Summer 2028.

At Faithstone, we’re reimagining the dining experience through an innovative cook-chill food production model that combines centralized meal preparation with fresh finishing in each neighbourhood kitchen. More importantly, we’re creating an environment where dining reflects the natural rhythm of daily life – where the aroma of meals being prepared fills the home, food is served fresh, and every meal becomes an opportunity for connection, comfort and belonging.

The Opportunity: Reporting to the Administrator, the Nutrition & Food Services Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for all nutrition and food services throughout the Home. As a member of the interdisciplinary leadership team, you will be responsible for developing, implementing and continuously enhancing a resident-centred nutrition and dining program that reflects both clinical excellence and outstanding hospitality.

Before opening, you’ll play a pivotal role in preparing the department for success – helping to implement our innovative food production model, establish operational systems, recruit and develop your team, and ensure every detail is ready for welcoming our first residents.

Following opening, your focus will shift to leading and continuously refining the program you’ve helped create. You’ll foster a culture of excellence, support your team, partner with residents and families, and continually seek opportunities to enhance the dining experience as our community grows.

This is a full-time permanent position with a start date in early-Fall 2026. Upon opening, this position will be based full-time at the Hamilton home (1411 Upper Wellington Street). During the pre-opening and occupancy ramp-up phases, work will be shared between the Hamilton development site, our existing Grimsby home, and remote work, with the balance evolving as the project progresses toward opening.

As the Nutrition & Food Services Manager, you will:

Provide strategic and operational leadership for all nutrition and food services.
Lead the implementation of Faithstone's innovative food production and dining model, ensuring operational readiness before opening, supported by an external consultant.
Participate in commissioning kitchen equipment, developing workflows, establishing departmental systems, and preparing the department for a successful opening.
Train, mentor, and develop a high-performing nutrition and food services team that shares a passion for resident-centred care and hospitality.
Partner with the Registered Dietitian to ensure excellence in clinical nutrition care and regulatory compliance.
Working with the Nutrition Manager of Shalom, participate in menu planning and policy development.
Create exceptional dining experiences that balance nutritional excellence with resident choice, dignity, culture, faith, and personal preferences.
Develop and oversee quality improvement initiatives that continually enhance nutrition services and the resident dining experience.
Manage departmental budgeting, purchasing, inventory and financial performance.
Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation, Ministry standards, infection prevention practices, and health and safety requirements.
Collaborate with residents, families, and the interdisciplinary team to continually improve the quality of nutrition and food services.

Who You Are: You bring-

Membership in good standing with the Canadian Society of Nutrition Managers (CSNM), or eligibility for membership.
Completion of a recognized Food & Nutrition Management diploma or degree.
Progressive leadership experience in nutrition and food services within the long-term care, retirement or hospital sector.
Strong knowledge of Ontario legislation, food safety requirements and nutrition care practices.
Experience with food service technologies (ie. MealSuite Touch, Rational ovens, etc.).
Demonstrated success in leading change, implementing new initiatives and best practices, or improving operational processes.
Ability to provide a vulnerable sector police check within the last 6 months, and proof of TB testing completed within the last 12 months.
