The Mississaugua Golf and Country Club (MGCC) is one of Canada’s top private all-season golf clubs, with a diverse membership of 1,500 members and an outstanding Tier One golf course famous for its excellence. Position Summary:

The Mississaugua Golf and Country Club is seeking a talented and creative Pastry Assistant to join our culinary team. Reporting to the Director of Food and Beverage, the Pastry Chef will be responsible for preparing, presenting, and overseeing the production of high-quality baked goods and desserts, including cakes, chocolates, pies, tarts, cookies, breads, and specialty pastries, while maintaining the Club’s standards of excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare, present, store, all baked goods and desserts of, including, but not limited to, cakes, chocolates, pies, tarts, cookies, soufflés, truffles, buns, and muffins according to the standards of the Club
Prepare pastries including menu items and banquet / event orders for restaurant, event / function and banquet dining
Follow any and all recipes as they apply to any food products offered, as determined by the Executive Chef and Pastry Chef
Ensure the proper use of scales and measurements in all recipes, portioning, and food production by both yourself and the staff under your direct supervision
Ensure consistent food preparation and the highest calibre of food presentation, taking advantage of all opportunities to improve upon both
Maintain product consistency by regularly conducting inspections of portions, and the appearance of food items
Ensure cleanliness and hygiene is maintained in the various kitchen areas including refrigerators and storerooms and that food products are rotated to ensure high standards of freshness
Ensure refrigerators and storerooms are organized and maintained in the various kitchen areas on a daily basis and that all food products are stored in accordance with provincial regulations.
Ensure food is stored in appropriate containers and labeled; minimizing waste and maximizing quality
Strive to uphold a safe working environment and be Health and Safety conscious and actively involved in maintaining and improving a safe work environment
Adhere to the Club’s guidelines, policies, and rules and regulations
Follow all Health & Safety policies and procedures and sanitation standards
Perform other related duties as required.

Skills & Requirements:

A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience required
Completion of Certification in Pastry / Bakery / Chocolate Work
Experience in a fast-paced, upscale restaurant
Banquet experience is an asset
Food Handling Certification is an Asset
Creative and knowledgeable of current culinary trends
Must be knowledgeable in food cost and labour cost control
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Strong communication skills at all levels
Ability to cope with extreme pressure in a fast-paced environment
