We are seeking a welcoming and organized part time permanent Medical Receptionist to join our northwest clinic team in August 2026. You will be the first point of contact for our patients, managing the front desk and phones ensuring smooth daily operations. The ideal candidate balances excellent customer service with strong administrative skills in a fast-paced healthcare environment. This is an evening and weekend position with the possibility of covering a day shift when needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet patients: Welcome visitors warmly and manage the check-in and check-out process.
- Manage schedules: Book, cancel, and reschedule patient appointments accurately.
- Handle phones: Answer inquiries, triage calls, and take detailed messages.
- Maintain records: Update patient demographics and insurance information in the EMR system.
- Process payments: Collect co-pays, issue receipts, and manage daily billing summaries.
- Support clinical staff: Coordinate patient flow and manage incoming faxes, emails, and mail.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education: High school diploma required; Medical Office Administration diploma is a strong asset.
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in a medical office or customer service role.
- Tech skills: Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) software and direct billing (e.g., Telus Health, Jane app)
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a compassionate demeanor.
- Organization: Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and handle confidential information under HIPAA/PIPEDA guidelines.
Pay: $16.00-$18.00 per hour
