Event Operator – Part-Time / Seasonal (September–October)

Schedule: Weekdays, Evenings & Weekends – Based on Event Schedule

Position Overview

Party Time Inflatables Inc. is hiring additional Event Operators for confirmed events taking place throughout Ottawa this September. We are seeking reliable applicants who can work most or all of the following shifts:

Wednesday, September 9: 1:30 p.m.–8:30 p.m.
Thursday, September 10: 12:30 p.m.–7:30 p.m.
Saturday, September 12: 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
Sunday, September 13: 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
Thursday, September 17: 3:30 p.m.–8:30 p.m.
Saturday, September 19: 8:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
Sunday, September 20: 8:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
Thursday, September 24: 1:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m.
Sunday, September 27: 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.

Additional shifts may be available throughout September and October. Applicants must be dependable, punctual, comfortable working outdoors and capable of physical event work.

Applicants must include their availability for each listed date when applying.

This is a hands-on position working at school, corporate, community, and public events throughout Ottawa. Event Operators are responsible for the safe operation and supervision of inflatable amusement devices and attractions, equipment inspections, customer interaction, and assisting with event operations.

Strong availability during September is a priority, with continued shifts available throughout our outdoor season ending October 31.

Training is provided. Applicants must be reliable, safety-focused, comfortable working with the public, and able to travel to various event locations throughout Ottawa.

Primary Purpose:

The Event Operator is responsible for the safe and professional operation of amusement rides and attractions at events, ensuring full compliance with Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) regulations. This role involves direct engagement with clients of all ages, maintaining safety protocols, event and material-handling equipment, and upholding the company’s standards of service and presentation. The Event Operator is also responsible for accurate and timely reporting of hours worked, inspections, incidents, and other required operational information.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Operation and Safety Compliance:

a) Operate TSSA-regulated inflatable amusement devices and non-TSSA attractions in accordance with applicable manufacturer instructions, company procedures, and TSSA requirements.

b) Maintain a constant safety presence by monitoring participants, enforcing ride rules, and intervening when unsafe behaviour is observed.

c) Remain up to date on TSSA safety standards and operational updates while employed.

d) All physical requirements must be fulfilled with reasonable accommodation as per the Ontario Human Rights Code.

e) Safely operate powered/electric dollies and other material-handling equipment in accordance with company training, manufacturer instructions, and established safety procedures.

2. Stop-operation authority/responsibility

Immediately stop operation of an attraction when an unsafe condition, equipment concern, unsafe participant behaviour, or environmental hazard is identified, and promptly report the issue to the Event Supervisor or management.

3. Client Interaction and Communication:

a) Communicate clearly and respectfully with clients and attendees of all ages.

b) Demonstrate strong de-escalation and conflict-resolution skills when required.

c) Provide safety instructions and operational briefings to patrons and supervisors.

d) Must be proficient in English or French to effectively interact with customers and understand regulatory material.

4. Uniform & PPE Standards:

a) Must be physically capable of safely operating event equipment, including powered/electric dollies, and performing duties involving lifting, pushing, pulling, climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods, with reasonable accommodation where required.

b) Responsible for wearing the designated uniform during all shifts.

c) Employees must maintain personal grooming and wear all required protective gear and uniform components as designated by management and aligned with safety policy

5. Maintenance and Inspection:

a) Conduct pre- and post-operation inspections of equipment to identify mechanical or safety issues.

b) Report any maintenance concerns or safety hazards immediately to management.

6. Time and Expense Reporting:

Submit accurate, timely records of worked hours

7. Travel and On-Site Requirements:

a) Must have reliable personal transportation to and from assigned event locations.

b) Arrive on-site in advance of scheduled setup times to complete necessary safety and operational checks.

8. Representation and Conduct:

a) Represent Partytime Inflatables with professionalism and courtesy at all times.

b) Maintain confidentiality regarding company operations and client relationships.

9. Other Duties as Assigned:

a) Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by management.
