Full job description

Interviews will be held in June 2026.

Specifics: The successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial matters including per capita payments related to members of union locals across Canada and administrative duties as assigned. Must have more than 5 years' experience, and judgement to work alone.

Location: CWA Canada’s office in Ottawa four or five days a week.

Hiring date: June 2026.

General Functions:

Accounts Payable/Receivable, Bookkeeping and Administration

· Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable for national membership and the Ottawa office

· Budget allocation within the accounting system

· Maintaining general ledgers and accounts

· Administering bank statements and reconciliations.

· Maintaining internal accounting procedures and fund transfers

· Administering banking procedures (transfer of funds, credit card payments)

· Preparing ledger entries and reconciliations and reports

· Preparing financial reports/audits as needed

· Preparing digital and paper information storage systems

· Processing reimbursements to union volunteers for travel costs, etc.

· Managing payments to the international union and the collection system

· Familiar with Office 365, Outlook, Excel, Word, QuickBooks (payroll), accounting software (we use QuickBooks), various banking functions, CRA requirements, financial and administrative record keeping, Adobe Acrobat software, Online Banking functions

Payroll Administration

· Processing & managing payroll

· Administering benefits and benefit payments

· Processing payments for wage replacement

· Maintaining payroll deductions, including union dues

· Preparing tax payments and required governmental reporting

· Preparing payroll statements as required

General Administrative Duties

· As needed, including all administrative tasks
