Sasuchan Development Corporation (SDC) delivers complex industrial and construction projects with a focus on operational excellence, accountability, and strong project execution. We are growing our Project Controls team and are seeking an experienced Senior Project Controls Specialist to support portfolio-level project performance, integrated reporting, forecasting, and project controls system implementation across multiple projects.

Position Summary
The Senior Project Controls Specialist is a senior member of the project controls team responsible for validating Project Controls Architecture requirements, leading implementation across assigned projects, and ensuring the architecture delivers accurate, timely, and decision-ready information to project leadership and stakeholders.
The role acts as the operational bridge between software vendors, home office leadership, field execution teams, and project stakeholders by translating the controls framework defined in the Project Controls Manual into functioning processes, configured system modules, trained users, and routine project reporting.
The Senior Project Controls Specialist supports project success through the implementation and maintenance of integrated project controls systems, including cost, schedule, change management, earned value, reporting, forecasting, risk management, and performance measurement functions.
In addition to project controls implementation responsibilities, the role provides portfolio-level oversight across multiple projects by monitoring project performance, identifying trends and variances, supporting executive decision-making, and ensuring alignment with SDC standards, policies, strategic objectives, and project execution requirements.
The position also supports continuous improvement of project controls processes, tools, templates, reporting standards, forecasting methodologies, and performance governance systems.
Primary Responsibilities
Project Controls Architecture Validation and Implementation
- Validate Project Controls Architecture requirements during project setup to confirm alignment between cost, schedule, change management, reporting elements, project scope, contract obligations, and stakeholder expectations.
- Lead implementation of Project Controls Architecture requirements across assigned projects.
- Configure and maintain Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), cost code structures, schedule hierarchies, earned value baselines, and change management workflows.
- Identify gaps between standard Project Controls Architecture requirements and project-specific requirements and coordinate resolution with Senior Leadership.
- Confirm project controls reporting cycles, workflows, and system integrations are operational and maintained throughout project execution.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to project controls systems, reporting standards, templates, workflows, and operational processes.
Vendor Coordination and System Module Configuration
- Coordinate with software vendors, internal stakeholders, and system administrators to configure and validate project controls reports and applicable system modules.
- Define reporting requirements, calculation logic, data sources, distribution requirements, and output formats.
- Develop test cases and perform validation and user acceptance testing activities.
- Maintain controlled libraries of configured reports, templates, dashboards, and implementation documentation.
- Escalate vendor performance issues, system defects, and enhancement requests through Senior Leadership and support issue resolution.
- Identify opportunities for reporting automation, process efficiencies, and system integration improvements.
Program and Portfolio Oversight
- Monitor project controls performance across multiple projects, including scheduling, cost performance, forecasting, productivity tracking, earned value, reporting, and resource utilization.
- Consolidate portfolio-level reporting and support executive reporting requirements.
- Develop and maintain executive dashboards and reporting packages related to cost, schedule, forecasting, productivity, and operational performance.
- Identify project performance trends, cost and schedule variances, forecasting risks, and emerging issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Participate in risk reviews, forecasting reviews, and contingency planning activities.
- Analyze earned value, labour productivity, forecasting accuracy, schedule adherence, and operational performance metrics.
- Coordinate monthly project performance reviews with Project Managers, leadership teams, and stakeholders.
- Support strategic resource allocation, prioritization, and operational planning activities.
- Develop and track KPIs related to cost performance, forecasting reliability, productivity, schedule adherence, and resource utilization.
- Support preparation of executive summaries, client reporting, and strategic performance presentations.
Training and Field Implementation Support
- Develop and deliver training materials related to project controls systems, reporting standards, and operational workflows.
- Support project startup, implementation, and field adoption of project controls systems and reporting processes.
- Provide troubleshooting support related to project controls workflows, reporting requirements, and system functionality.
- Promote consistent application of project controls standards, procedures, and best practices across projects.
- Mentor junior project controls personnel and support knowledge transfer initiatives.
Operational and Resource Planning Support
- Support workforce planning, staffing coordination, forecasting, and operational reporting activities.
- Monitor labour productivity, equipment utilization, and operational performance metrics.
- Support leadership teams with operational forecasting, executive reporting, and strategic planning initiatives.
- Assist with coordination of reporting inputs from project teams, field operations, and support departments.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to operational reporting, forecasting accuracy, and project execution performance.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, Finance, or related discipline.
Experience & Technical Competency
- Minimum 8 years of progressive Project Controls experience.
- Minimum 3 years of direct experience supporting project controls system implementation, reporting configuration, and end-user training.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities and concurrent projects.
- Ability to work effectively with operations, field teams, vendors, project teams, and leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in heavy industrial or large-scale construction environments.
- Professional certifications considered an asset, including: AACE CCP / EVP, PMP, PMI-SP.
- Experience supporting training development, implementation, and field adoption initiatives.
