Role Overview
The Sr. Manager, IT is responsible for participating in the strategic vision and direction for the IT function and department for the organization, and overseeing the execution and implementation of that strategy, ensuring the IT systems, network and infrastructure meet the functional, security and reliability needs of the business. Included in this is the strategy for the growth and evolution of the network, infrastructure and support services of IT.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Planning & Leadership:
- Develop and implement the roadmap for Network and Infrastructure for the organization, looking at projected business growth and how the infrastructure needs to grow to support it.
- Continually monitor and right-size the organization's infrastructure to meet the changing needs of the business, including:
- Internet connections
- Wireless capabilities
- Dynamics 365 Infrastructure
- Reporting Infrastructure
- Responsible for management of the IT Desktop Support team in the following areas:
- Technical guidance and oversight
- Leadership and mentoring
- Performance Management
Operational Excellence:
- Oversee the IT Department, ensuring on-time completion of projects
- Oversee Tier-1 support, providing backup when resources are not available
- Provide Tier-2 and Tier-3 support to the organization, responding to requests via telephone, email, Teams chat, or other methods, in a timely manner
- Manage access within the organization's Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365 and other environments, provisioning access that meets the user's needs and removing access when it's no longer needed
- Manage the network infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, access points, performing updates, replacements when necessary, and troubleshooting issues and outages.
- Manage Azure infrastructure for the D365 environments, performing refreshes from Production to other environments as necessary, granting access to Developers and other resources, troubleshooting issues, engaging with Microsoft for support when required, and assisting with promoting of code and upgrades to various environments
- Manage the internet connections at all locations, ensuring uptime and managing failover when required
- Manage VPN connectivity between locations and from stores to Azure
- Incident response for both infrastructure and security incidents, isolating the incident and providing forensics support
- Proactive communication to the business during outages, informing them of statuses during all incidents
- License management for Microsoft 365 and Dynamics 365, performing periodic license audits and participating in the procurement process.
Business Development & Innovation:
- Continually evaluate opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiencies and looking at opportunities for automation and leveraging emerging technologies such as AI
Reporting and Administration:
- Provide weekly updates on work accomplished and work planned for the following week
- Develop metrics on uptime of various critical parts of the infrastructure, as well as of the departmental functions, such as Tier-1 support, project requests, task requests, etc.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Education:
- Bachelor's degree required in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field
- Relevant professional certifications considered a strong asset, such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Microsoft Dynamics 365 certifications, PMP, ITIL, or CISSP
IT Infrastructure:
- Minimum 7 years of progressive IT infrastructure experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or management capacity
- Proven, hands-on experience managing and administering a Microsoft Azure environment, including infrastructure provisioning, environment refreshes, access management, troubleshooting, and engaging Microsoft support when required
- Demonstrated experience managing all aspects of IT infrastructure, including network infrastructure (firewalls, switches, access points, wireless), internet connectivity and failover, and VPN connectivity across multiple locations
- Experience overseeing Tier-1 through Tier-3 support structures and incident response, including isolating infrastructure and security incidents and coordinating forensics support
- Experience managing IT infrastructure across a multi-location or multi-site organization; retail environments an asset
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration, license management, and license audits
- CISSP or equivalent security certification an asset
IT Systems:
- Proven experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365), including the Finance and Operations (F&O) component
- Hands-on experience with D365 inventory management modules
- Experience with Power BI, including building, supporting, and integrating Power BI reporting interfaces with D365 and other business systems
- Experience developing and executing a D365 platform roadmap, partnering with business stakeholders and IT Business Analysis functions
- Experience managing user access and security roles across D365 and other enterprise systems
- Retail systems experience an asset

- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to translate technical solutions and information into business language
- Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues in a variety of technical environments
- Proven documentation skills
- Project, Program and/or Portfolio Management experience
- Possess an entrepreneurial spirit with strong analytical and logical problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of new and emerging technologies
- Experience supporting a mixed PC / Mac environment
- Team player with demonstrated ability to collaborate
- Ability to interact with and provide support to a diverse group of employees at all levels
