The role of the Production Planner is essential in overseeing and managing all aspects of production planning to ensure efficient and accurate execution. You will coordinate with various teams, including Purchasing, Inventory, and Production, to meet target dates, ensure optimal material usage, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Your expertise will drive the timely release of orders and help streamline production processes.

Plan, release, and schedule production orders to meet delivery targets.

Create and maintain job orders, cut lists, and supporting production documentation.

Develop and manage production schedules; coordinate with production leads to ensure adherence to timelines.

Collaborate with Purchasing and Inventory to align material availability with production plans.

Create, validate, and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and routing data, including run times.

Monitor Work in Progress (WIP) and material consumption; investigate and resolve variances.

Identify and communicate planning exceptions, including material shortages, delays, and capacity constraints.

Analyze capacity and work with production teams to address bottlenecks and optimize flow.

Continuously adjust production plans based on demand, capacity, and operational changes.

Support and lead continuous improvement initiatives related to planning, scheduling, and data accuracy.

Maintain system integrity, including production data synchronization and order backfilling.

Ensure accurate and timely communication of production plans and updates across teams.

Highly detail-oriented and organized, with strong time management skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

Self-sufficient problem solver, able to work independently and make decisions quickly.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.

Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Proven experience in production planning or a similar role in a manufacturing environment, preferably in heavy equipment or related industries.

Experience in capacity planning, BOM creation, and scheduling processes.

Familiarity with ERP systems.

Relevant certifications or qualifications in manufacturing, engineering, or related fields are a plus.
