Full job description

Overview
At Coverdale Centre for Women, we believe in the inherent worth of all persons and their right to be treated with dignity and respect. Our mission is to create a safe environment with empowering opportunities for women and gender diverse people of all ages. We do this through transitional housing, housing support programs, an emergency shelter, and a community based residential facility. We work with women and gender diverse people who are precariously housed, unhoused, and/or facing barriers to achieving their goals. At Coverdale, we use a harm reduction lens when interacting with our clients by meeting each of our clients where they are and supporting their individual needs.

We are seeking a youth to fill a position through Canada Summer Jobs who is interested in working supporting clients in our transitional housing program.

Duties

Support women in maintaining housing at our transitional housing location
Utilize a harm reduction approach while assuring client and building safety
Assist with individual goal setting and managing housing plans
Develop and deliver activities for residents of Rose House to increase engagement, build a sense of community, and offer opportunities to explore new and fun activities
Complete safety checks on shift and notify Rose House Coordinator immediately of all security risks
Follow protocols in place to address safety concerns and complete incident reports
Work as part of a team to deliver wraparound services to women exiting homelessness to aid in their housing retention

Skills

Compassionate attitude with excellent caregiving skills emphasizing patience and empathy
Ability to follow and enforce policies and procedures
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Interest in and ability to support women exiting homelessness
Follow harm reduction policies to ensure safety of all clients

Qualifications

Must be able to pass a criminal record and vulnerable sector check
This is a temporary youth position, must be between the ages of 15 and 30 and legally entitled to work in Canada

Pay: $18.00 per hour
