GTA Restoration has an immediate opening for a Carpenter/ Drywall Installer/Painter in our Scarborough branch.

GTA Restoration is fairly large independent disaster restoration company in Canada. We provide unsurpassed emergency response, restoration and reconstruction services to the insurance industry, residential, commercial and industrial customers. With coast-to-coast coverage and 24/7 emergency service, we offer a wide range of services that remediation conditions caused by fires, floods, winds, mold, environmental hazards, accidents and other casualties at any type of facility.

Position Summary:
The Carpenter/ Drywall Installer/ Painter works under the general direction of the Operations Manager to plan and organize the assignments of a project in order to meet the gross Profit and timeline goals. The Carpenter/ Drywall Installer/ Painter oversees laborers assigned to them ensuring that the quality standards of the company are being met and has knowledge of materials, methods and the tools involved in the construction or repair of residential & commercial buildings, and other structures.

Responsibilities:

Follows all company health and safety policies and procedures and ensures that they are respected by all personnel and subcontractors.
Demonstrates skill in the safe operation of shop tools
Strives to continually improve through specific development plans.
Accepts direction from the Construction Manager & Project Manager.
Coaches and assists laborers with all job tasks.
Practices good housekeeping discipline on the job to ensure a safe, non-cluttered workplace and to minimize cross contamination.
Adheres to company policy and standards at customer sites
Completes assignments on time and within budget.
Producing a satisfactory result for the client and working to the standards that they expect.

Education and Experience:

College Diploma or certification in a recognized construction/carpentry course preferred.
3 years of experience and proven track record in the restoration, emergency or a related industry.
References of previous painting/drywall/carpentry jobs
Experienced with work in dangerous environments, negotiating ladders, heights and equipment

Knowledge and skill set:

Practical knowledge of carpentry and building maintenance.
Practical knowledge of safe operation of basic hand and power tools.
Practical knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures.
Knowledge of basic shop mathematics to calculate metric conversions and materials needed for jobs.
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance as pertains to carpentry, drywall work & painting.
Skilled at measuring, cutting, fitting and fastening the drywall panels; skilled taper/finisher of drywall panels.
Able to complete finishing process after installation by filling joints and imperfections.
Able to solve basic arithmetic problems quickly and accurately.
Able to identify and estimate the quantity of materials needed to complete a job.
Accurately estimate length of time and cost of a job.
Skilled in surface preparation and application of a range of finishes.
Capable of industrial-scale jobs, such as office buildings.
Capable of working with potentially hazardous substances and application of associated protective measures.

Additional requirements:

Able and willing to participate in 24/7 on-call rotation
Able to build relationships with all parties involved in the construction process
Good at problem-solving and conflict resolution.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
