Role Summary

We’re looking for an intermediate developer to join the core team building Psiphon’s next-generation cross-platform client application (Flutter), targeting iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows.

This is a dual role, with time split between native iOS development and Flutter-based application work.

iOS native work (~30–40%, depending on project needs): Swift, iOS platform APIs, StoreKit/subscriptions, App Store process, entitlements, provisioning, and occasionally deeper work with network extensions and VPN plumbing. You’ll have mentorship from a senior iOS specialist for the networking-specific work.
Flutter UI and application work (~60–70%): Feature development, UI implementation, state management, and cross-platform logic. This is where the majority of day-to-day development takes place. Experience with Flutter is not required; however, candidates should be able to rapidly develop proficiency in the framework.

Key Duties

Contribute to the development of a major app rewrite approaching its initial release
Implement iOS platform integrations including StoreKit, permissions, App Store submission, and build pipelines
Contribute to deeper iOS work as needed, including network extensions and packet tunnel providers (with guidance from a senior iOS developer)
Develop Flutter UI components including subscription flows, settings, onboarding, and design implementation
Build cross-platform features that span both native and Flutter layers
Collaborate closely with a small team (~3 core developers) where ownership and contribution span across the stack

Skills and Experience

Strong Swift experience, including working with iOS system frameworks (not just UIKit/SwiftUI app development)
Familiarity with the iOS platform ecosystem, including the App Store review process, provisioning, entitlements, and StoreKit
Comfort working across the stack — moving between Swift platform code and Dart UI code
Ability to work independently and take ownership in a small team environment

Strong Preference

Experience with Flutter or Dart, or demonstrated ability to quickly learn new frameworks
Experience working on small teams with high ownership and low ceremony
Willingness to work within unfamiliar iOS subsystems (e.g., network extensions, VPN APIs)
Experience with VPN, proxy, or networking applications
Interest in internet freedom, privacy technology, or censorship circumvention
Experience with Android native development (Kotlin/Java)
Experience with cross-platform mobile development patterns

Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

Job Type: Full-time
