We are seeking a hardworking and reliable Construction Labourer to support our Heavy Equipment Operators in the day-to-day execution of construction projects. In this role, you will assist with site preparation, material handling, equipment support, and general labour duties while working closely with operators and the Site Foreman. The successful candidate will be safety-focused, eager to learn, and committed to contributing to an efficient and productive work environment.
This role is based in our North Okanagan location in Vernon.
Responsibilities:
- Assist equipment operators in the setup, operation, and maintenance of heavy machinery, including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and compactors.
- Perform manual labour tasks such as digging, shovelling, lifting, and carrying materials to support construction activities.
- Prepare construction sites by clearing debris, grading terrain, and erecting temporary structures as directed by the site foreman.
- Load and unload materials using heavy equipment or manual methods, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in the handling process.
- Assist with traffic control and site safety measures to ensure the safety of workers, equipment, and the public.
- Follow all safety procedures and regulations while working on the job site, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and participating in safety meetings and training sessions.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, equipment operators, and fellow team members to coordinate tasks and ensure smooth operations on the job site.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including equipment, tools, and materials storage areas.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management to support the successful completion of projects.

Skills and Qualifications:
- Previous experience in construction or a related field, with knowledge of heavy equipment operation and construction techniques.
- Valid driver's license in good standing and reliable transportation to and from job sites.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods, often in outdoor environments and in varying weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic and a willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions from supervisors and equipment operators.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand tools and power equipment.
- Safety-conscious mindset with a commitment to following safety protocols and procedures at all times.
What We Offer
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $26.00 per hour.
It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range for their role. Actual placement within range will be contingent upon several factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, education, experience, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
