Full job description

At SMS Equipment, our Superintendent, Parts plays a critical leadership role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and customer-focused delivery of parts operations. Based in Wabash, NL, this role oversees warehouse and parts distribution activities while driving operational excellence, team development, and continuous improvement.

You will partner closely with branch leadership and cross-functional teams to align parts operations with business objectives, enhance customer satisfaction, and support strong financial performance. This is an opportunity to lead a high-impact team in a dynamic mining environment.

Work Location: Wabush, NL
Salary: $115,000 - $120,000 per annum, plus bonus
Work Arrangement: Fixed on site – working on location each day
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7 am – 4 pm

What You’ll Do

Lead and oversee daily parts operations, including order desk and warehouse functions, ensuring safe and productive work practices
Partner with branch leadership to ensure efficient and profitable operations aligned with business objectives
Drive operational efficiency, productivity improvements, and cost control initiatives across the department
Coordinate with service, sales, and logistics teams to support seamless operations and customer satisfaction
Oversee parts ordering, expedite customer and vendor orders, and communicate delivery timelines effectively
Manage inventory processes including stock monitoring, purchasing recommendations, and component exchange programs
Lead, coach, and develop parts personnel, including training, performance management, and workforce planning
Monitor key performance indicators, identify improvement opportunities, and implement process enhancements

What You Bring

You bring experience in parts or supply chain operations along with a collaborative and thoughtful approach to leadership. You focus on supporting team success, building positive working relationships, and contributing to continuous improvement in a way that aligns with organizational values. Other requirements include:

Experience in parts, warehouse, or supply chain operations within heavy equipment, mining, or a related industry
Experience supporting or leading a team in an operations environment
Knowledge of inventory coordination, purchasing, and logistics processes
Ability to review information and contribute to operational improvements
Effective communication and collaboration skills

Nice to have:

Bilingual, English and French
Journeyperson / Red Seal Parts Technician certification, or equivalent parts training
Experience in heavy equipment, mining, construction, or a related industrial environment
