Role Overview
Southwestern Manufacturing Inc. is seeking 2 permanent full-time, experienced QUALITY INSPECTOR . The shifts will Day shifts and afternoon shifts.
Key Responsibilities
· Perform receiving, in-process, and final inspections to verify compliance with drawings, specifications, and applicable codes/standards.
· Review and follow Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), ensuring all hold and witness points are satisfied.
· Verify material documentation such as MTRs, Certificates of Conformance, and test reports for traceability.
· Identify, document, and report non-conformances (NCRs), and ensure proper disposition.
· Control non-conforming materials/products by tagging, segregation, and preventing unintended use.
· Verify that special processes (welding, heat treatment, NDE) are performed by qualified personnel using approved procedures.
· Maintain detailed, accurate inspection records and traceability reports in compliance with QA program requirements and nuclear program requirements.
· Participate in internal audits and support external inspections as required.
· Exercise authority to withhold acceptance or stop work when quality standards are not met.
Qualifications & Skills
· Strong understanding of dimensional inspection, including GD&T.
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
· Hands-on experience with inspection tools: calipers, micrometers, tape measures, verniers, thread gauges, etc.
· Proven ability to prepare accurate and detailed inspection reports.
· Willingness to work occasional weekends as required.
· Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and CSA N299.3-16 nuclear quality standards is an asset.
· Participation in and knowledge of internal quality audits is an asset.
· Knowledge and working experience within the Manufacturing industry is required
Education & Experience
· Minimum 1–2 years of relevant QA/QC inspection experience, ideally in nuclear or heavy industry.
· Experience inspecting weldments is preferred.
· Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent
· Proven working experience in a quality inspection position
Working Conditions
- Shop environment with exposure to noise, sparks, grinding debris, and moving equipment.
- Regular lifting, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
- Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and have an attention for detail to ensure tight deadlines are met.
