DESCRIPTION

Ever wondered what powers the content experiences seen by hundreds of millions of Prime members across every Amazon marketplace on the planet? Prime Customer Experience Engineering (CXE) provides the governance and technical backbone for the development lifecycle of every Prime experience, spanning the CX layer and the wiring that connects it to the data sources behind it. We own the core framework for building and maintaining Prime CX widgets and the content experimentation systems for every Prime experience. Together, these systems power Prime CXs across functions like acquisition, onboarding, engagement, and retention, across channels including .com, email, notification, text, and WhatsApp — ensuring Prime-owned CXs, which drive roughly 70% of Prime member growth, scale consistently and reliably.

Within CXE, the CX Authoring team owns the content infrastructure layer — the self-service platforms, tools, and frameworks that enable teams across Prime to create, configure, localize, and deploy customer experiences at global scale without deep engineering expertise. We're building an AI-native framework that is fundamentally reimagining how Amazon creates customer experiences. Our vision is bold: compress CX development from weeks of manual effort down to hours of AI-assisted generation with human-in-the-loop validation - pioneering design-to-code GenAI workflows, automated content generation, intelligent compliance checking, and multi-agent orchestration. Our north star? Anyone can create world-class Prime experiences without writing code, AI handles localization and optimization automatically, and launch timelines collapse from weeks to days - across all Prime marketplaces worldwide.

Our Software Development Engineers (SDEs) use innovative technology to solve complex problems and get to see the impact of their work first-hand.

Key job responsibilities

Build the GenAI-powered future of Prime experiences — design and develop Agentcore infrastructure, multi-agent orchestration, and autonomous experimentation capabilities.
Collaborate with experienced cross-disciplinary Amazonians to conceive, design, and bring innovative products and services to market — from natural language program configuration to AI-driven CX generation.
Design and build innovative technologies in a large distributed computing environment, including Agent-to-Agent (A2A) communication frameworks, ML-powered recommendation engines, and real-time event-driven orchestration systems.
Create solutions that run at incredible scale and speed — our platform serves hundreds of millions of Prime customers across dozens of countries, processing millions of state transitions daily.
Build distributed, fault-tolerant systems that are scalable, low cost, and easy to manage — from experience orchestration engines to incentive management platforms.
Design and code the right solutions starting with broadly defined problems — you'll own features end-to-end, from architecture to production deployment.
Work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software with development cycles measured in weeks, not years.

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about creating new products, features, and services from scratch while managing ambiguity and the pace of a company where development cycles are measured in weeks, not years.

About the team
Our vision is to deliver enticing and engaging multi-step experiences that influence Prime customers to act and make decisions more efficiently and quickly. We build mechanisms and technologies focused on delivering seamless multi-step experiences to achieve business goals. These solutions empower Prime teams — Acquisition, Onboarding, Engagement, and Retention — as well as other organizations, to effectively engage customers throughout their membership lifecycle, helping achieve business goals through scalable, error-free, and timely delivery of customer benefits. This approach allows us to address churn by providing personalized, relevant experiences at each stage of the customer journey.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company, Amazon's package may include other elements such as sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
