Role Overview:
We are looking for a skilled Stucco Repair Technician to handle specialized maintenance, patching, and restoration work. Unlike new construction installs, this role requires a "surgical" approach—focusing on matching textures, fixing cracks, and ensuring seamless transitions between old and new finishes. You will be the face of our quality assurance, traveling to residential and commercial sites to resolve issues and ensure long-term durability.
Job Description:
- Perform expert-level repair, patching, and restoration of stucco on various homes and commercial structures. (Preferred: 3 years technical experience in scope of work.)
Key Responsibilities:
- Assessment & Troubleshooting: Identify the root cause of stucco failures (water damage, settling cracks, or impact) and determine the best repair method.
- Precision Patching: Perform expert-level patching.
- Texture Matching: Masterfully replicate existing finishes (dash, sand, lace, etc.) to ensure repairs are invisible to the naked eye.
- Color Blending: Apply fog coats or finish coats to match aged or weathered surfaces accurately.
- Waterproofing: Ensure all repairs are properly flashed and sealed to prevent future moisture intrusion.
Qualifications
- Technical Experience: Minimum of 3 years of hands-on stucco experience (specific repair experience is highly preferred).
- Detail Oriented: A "perfectionist" mindset regarding texture and color matching.
- Problem Solving: Ability to work independently and make on-site decisions to fix structural or aesthetic flaws.
- Professionalism: Strong communication skills, as you will be interacting directly with homeowners and property managers.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
- Ability to pay attention to detail.
- Must be able to effectively communicate with crew members of varying education levels and different languages.
- Must possess good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to use required tools and other equipment to install stucco to the face of a building.
- Ability to work from heights on scaffolding.
- Preparing materials and installing of same.
- Ability to install stucco within manufacturer's guidelines.
- Ability to build scaffolding as per Workplace Safety and Health Act and Regulation.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, safety practices/procedures manual.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; geometry skills.
- Ability to utilize materials with minimal waste.
- Ability to multitask without compromising quality of work.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and details to perform the job in accordance.
Project Preparation:
- Communicate stock of common materials and tools.
- Assist in loading and emptying trailers at the beginning and end of every day.
Ensure Health & Safety Standards Are Followed:
- Perform all duties in accordance with L&A safe work practices/procedures, and in accordance to Workplace Safety and Health Act and Regulation (provincial and federal).
- Wear all safety clothing at all times (high visibility clothing at all times, hard hats, steel toe boots).
- Ensure company personal protective equipment (PPE) policy is followed.
- Participate in the completion of all required daily/weekly/monthly safety paperwork and submitting on Site Docs (hazard assessments, toolbox talks, incident reports, etc.).
- Must remain sober at all times and abstain from using any illegal/legal drugs and/or alcohol when on L&A job sites or during business hours.
Measures of Performance:
- Performance Targets:
- 65 sq. ft. of scratch coat per man hour.
- 50 sq. ft. of finish coat per man hour.
- All safety, tool, truck, etc. paperwork are accurate and complete and delivered to the manager and safety officer on time every week.
- Starts work on time and comes prepared for communicated start time.
- Action has been taken to avoid quality control problems on site.
- Deficiency return trips for a major oversight no greater than 1 per month (Installation technical error, property damage, installation error due non-compliance with Supervisor)
- Deficiency return trips for a minor oversight no greater than 1 per month (Forgotten materials/tools on site, return trip to clean up, not leaving site in same condition or better prior to start)
- Sites have not been cited for safety violations and have no record of stop work orders.
- Has demonstrated good judgment in reporting and resolving problems on site.
- Has conducted themselves according to L&A standards and is working to maintain healthy relationships and create a positive work environment for their team members.
Driver's License:
- Required: Valid class 5 drivers license
Physical:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Body Movements: The employee must have a full range of body movements including the use of his/her hands to handle and feel objects. Must demonstrate agility and keen sense of balance while working at various heights. Must be able to work in confined spaces comfortably.
- Body Senses: The employee must have command of at least four senses: sight, hearing, touch and smell. Specific close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Depth Perception, Clear Vision at 20 feet.
- Strength: The employee must have the ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
Working Conditions:
- This position will be working both outdoors and indoors, encounters temperatures that range from –35 to +40 degrees Celsius, all types of weather conditions including snow, hail, rain and sun in muddy/dirty conditions while working at a site (if applicable).
- The normal driving conditions/hazards will apply. Travel will be in all types of weather including heavy rain and below freezing temperatures with snow conditions.
- Typical hours start at 7:00 AM for minimum 8.5 hours a day.
- Mandatory 1 hour break required per 8.5 hour working day. 30 minutes unpaid, 30 minutes paid if 8 hours are worked. If it is less than an 8 hour work day, these breaks will be unpaid. Breaks may be split into two 30 minute breaks or combined into one 1 hour break based on your Supervisor’s discretion.
- Typical clock in time for out of town work is from the exit highway off of the perimeter highway onward to site and back to perimeter entry highway.

Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
