Velosa Immigration Consulting Services Inc. is a Canadian immigration consulting firm that supports clients with work permits, PGWP, and permanent residence applications. We are expanding our services to include exam-focused English preparation for Canadian immigration purposes, with an initial focus on the CELPIP-General examination.
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced CELPIP Exam Preparation Instructor to help develop and deliver a structured CELPIP-General preparation program for adult clients who already have English proficiency and require targeted preparation to meet Canadian immigration language requirements.
The position will involve both program development and student instruction.
During the first month of the engagement, the primary focus of the role will be the design and development of the CELPIP preparation program. This will include developing the course structure, lesson plans, instructional materials, practice exercises, mock examinations, assessment tools, and study resources.
Following the initial program-development phase, the instructor will transition into delivering the program to students while continuing to update and improve the course materials based on student performance and program needs.
This role is focused specifically on CELPIP exam preparation, rather than general ESL instruction.
Initial Program Development Phase — First Month
During the first month, the instructor will primarily be responsible for:
- Designing the overall CELPIP-General preparation program and curriculum.
- Developing a structured course covering Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.
- Creating lesson plans, instructional materials, exercises, practice questions, and study guides.
- Developing CELPIP-style practice activities and mock examinations.
- Creating diagnostic assessments and progress evaluation tools.
- Establishing a structured approach to identifying students' strengths and areas for improvement.
- Developing instructional strategies aligned with CELPIP scoring criteria and Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB).
- Organizing the program into appropriate modules, sessions, and preparation packages.
- Preparing materials that can be used consistently for future students.
- Reviewing and refining the program to ensure it provides practical and targeted CELPIP preparation.
Ongoing Responsibilities
After the initial program-development phase, responsibilities will include:
- Delivering CELPIP-General preparation classes to adult students.
- Conducting language diagnostics and CLB benchmarking.
- Teaching strategies for Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.
- Providing structured feedback based on CELPIP scoring criteria.
- Conducting mock examinations and progress evaluations.
- Developing individualized preparation plans based on students' needs and immigration objectives.
- Updating and improving course materials based on student results and feedback.
- Monitoring student progress and providing recommendations for improvement.
- Teaching online through platforms such as Zoom.
- Maintaining organized records of student assessments and progress.
Requirements
- Proven experience teaching CELPIP preparation.
- Strong understanding of CELPIP-General and its four language components.
- Strong understanding of Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) and their application to Canadian immigration.
- Recognized English-language teaching certification, such as TESL, TESOL, CELTA, or an equivalent professional certification — required.
- Bachelor's degree in English, Education, Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, or a closely related field.
- Minimum 3 years of English teaching experience.
- Experience developing curriculum, lesson plans, educational resources, or exam-preparation materials.
- Ability to teach adults in a structured, results-driven environment.
- Strong communication, organizational, and instructional skills.
- Ability to work independently and develop a structured educational program from the ground up.
- Reliable availability for online instruction, including evening sessions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Extensive experience with CELPIP-General exam preparation.
- Experience working with students preparing for Canadian immigration language requirements.
- Experience designing CELPIP preparation courses or programs.
- Experience creating mock examinations and exam-specific instructional materials.
- Online teaching experience using Zoom or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with Canadian immigration language requirements and CLB equivalencies.
