Full job description

Position: Part-Time Caregiver Support Worker

Location: 100 Mile House, BC

Hours: 11 hours per week

Wage: 30.95 as per collective agreement

Summary:

Axis Family Resources Ltd. is hiring a Caregiver Support Worker to provide short-term, targeted intervention for families experiencing crisis or hardship. This program provides goal-based support to parents/caregivers and their children and can also include one-to-one support for youth living independently. The Caregiver Support Worker generally meets with persons served in their homes, the community, or in office, one to two times per week (depending on the needs of the family). The intention of the Caregiver Support program is to work with family members to assist them in developing strategies and skills to address a wide range of challenges, to collaborate with community agencies in a team-based support approach, and to navigate various social systems. Referrals to this program are provided by the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) and are intended to help prevent children from coming into care, keeping families together. The primary goal of Caregiver Support is to help families develop and maintain healthy routines, increase safety, and improve their overall sense of well-being.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in social work, Child and Youth Care or related field, or training and experience
Experience providing support and education around healthy parenting skills/strategies is required.
Knowledge of BC's child protection legislation and Ministry of Children and Families services is an asset.
Must have knowledge of community resources
Current Level 1 First Aid (including CPR) Certification is required
CPI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention) Training will be provided during first year of employment, and thereafter as required by certification
Approved Criminal record check, updated every two years by agency
Good writing, data collection, and facilitation skills are required
Computer literacy (including internet) is required.
Experience with foster parents and/or caregivers
Safe driving record, access to a reliable vehicle, and proof of $2,000,000 liability insurance will be required.
Ability to work as a team member as well as independently
Good written and oral communication skills.
Knowledge of principles and practices in the field.
Good organization and problem-solving skills.
