Financial Analyst

Contract Length: 1 Year
Location: Gatineau, QC J8V 3P8

Raise is currently hiring a contract team member on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader.

Job Overview

The Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting the client’s accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and regulatory reporting functions. This role plays a key part in the execution of month-end and year-end financial activities, financial analysis, audit support, and long-term planning initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical capabilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

Support month-end and year-end close activities, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, and financial reporting related to capital management, long-term debt, dividends, salaries, and pensions
Prepare, analyze, and distribute monthly and annual financial statements with detailed commentary and insights
Review and analyze end-of-month entries and identify significant variances within financial statements and operational assumptions
Analyze and report on key financial drivers, including volumes, distribution rates, customer additions, operating expenses, capital expenditures, and income tax
Provide financial data, reports, and ad hoc analysis to support business decisions and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information
Collaborate with internal and external auditors during interim and year-end audit processes
Assist in the preparation of regulatory filings, responses, and supporting documentation
Develop and document accounting policy recommendations in accordance with US GAAP standards
Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning activities
Review financial reporting processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness
Maintain and enhance financial models and analytical tools to support evolving business requirements
Contribute across multiple Finance Team functions and develop versatility within departmental operations

Qualifications

Professional accounting designation required
Minimum of 7 years of relevant accounting or financial analysis experience
Bilingual proficiency in both French and English required
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
Strong leadership, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to understand and apply complex financial and accounting concepts
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel
Experience with Oracle and Hyperion considered an asset
Knowledge of Federal and Quebec tax compliance requirements considered an asset
Understanding of project profitability analysis and investment evaluation methodologies considered an asset
