The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Electrician to lead crews on out-of-town projects throughout Western Canada, primarily British Columbia. This is a travel-based position operating on a 3-weeks-on / 1-week-off rotation. Accommodation and travel expenses are covered while you are on site.
In this role, you will be the on-site leader responsible for the safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of electrical installations. You will lead a team of journeypersons, apprentices, and helpers, serving as both a technical authority and a mentor. You will work closely with project managers, general contractors, and other trades to keep projects running on time and on budget.
Key Responsibilities
Supervision & Leadership
- Supervise, direct, and coordinate electricians, apprentices, and helpers on site
- Assign tasks, manage crew scheduling, and optimize daily workflow
- Mentor and coach apprentices and junior electricians to support their development
- Foster a positive, respectful, and professional crew culture
Project Planning & Coordination
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical drawings with accuracy
- Plan daily work activities and sequence tasks to meet project milestones
- Coordinate closely with general contractors, project managers, and other trades
- Attend site meetings and provide clear, timely progress updates
- Proactively identify scheduling conflicts or scope changes and communicate them to the project manager
Quality Control
- Ensure all work complies with the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and applicable local codes
- Conduct thorough inspections of completed work for quality and code compliance
- Oversee testing and commissioning of electrical systems prior to handover
- Uphold ANSER’s standard of craftsmanship on every project
Health & Safety
- Enforce job site safety rules, WorkSafeBC regulations, and company safety policies
- Lead toolbox talks and daily safety briefings
- Identify, document, and correct unsafe conditions or behaviours promptly
- Ensure all crew members use appropriate PPE at all times
- Participate in incident investigations and contribute to a culture of continuous safety improvement
Materials & Equipment Management
- Estimate, requisition, and manage materials and supplies to meet project needs
- Maintain accurate inventory of tools and equipment; coordinate repairs or replacements as needed
- Minimize material waste through careful planning and tracking
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate daily work logs, crew time sheets, and site records
- Document change orders, field conditions, and deviations from plan
- Report project progress, risks, and issues to the project manager or superintendent in a timely manner
Problem Solving & Field Decision-Making
- Troubleshoot electrical issues in the field efficiently and effectively
- Make sound on-site decisions regarding installation methods when plans require interpretation
- Resolve conflicts or workflow bottlenecks to maintain project momentum
Qualifications & Requirements
Required
- Red Seal Certified Electrical Journeyman ticket
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Journeyman Electrician
- Proven foreman or supervisory experience leading crews in the field
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence
- Own a complete set of hand tools
- Ability and willingness to travel and work on a 3 weeks on / 1 week off rotation
Preferred
- Experience in residential
- FSR Certification
- Familiarity with power generation systems and standby power installations
- Strong blueprint reading and project planning skills
- Experience with multi-family residential electrical work
- WorkSafeBC or equivalent safety training (First Aid, WHMIS, Fall Protection considered assets)
