Who we are looking for:
We are seeking experienced Tier 3 Technical Support to join our IT team. This is a hands-on technical role responsible for resolving complex escalations, supporting and improving our IT infrastructure, and helping lead the migration and modernization of systems.
The ideal candidate combines strong Tier 3 troubleshooting skills with practical experience in cloud migration, infrastructure administration, networking, identity, security, and Microsoft technologies. This person should be comfortable taking ownership of difficult technical problems, working across multiple systems and vendors, and designing solutions rather than simply following established support procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Tier 3 Technical Support
- Act as senior escalation points for complex issues unresolved by Tier 1/2.
- Troubleshoot advanced issues across endpoints, servers, apps, networking, identity, cloud, and infrastructure.
- Perform root-cause analysis and implement permanent fixes for recurring/high-impact incidents.
- Support critical systems and coordinate with vendors for escalations.
- Create and maintain technical documentation and knowledge base articles.
- Mentor Tier 1 and Tier 2 staff to improve overall support capability.
Cloud Migration & Administration
- Support planning and execution of on-prem to cloud/hybrid migrations.
- Assess systems, applications, infrastructure, and dependencies prior to migration.
- Execute workload, data, identity, and application migrations with minimal disruption.
- Configure, manage, and troubleshoot cloud infrastructure environments.
- Identify and support retirement of legacy systems to simplify architecture.
- Assist with cloud security, backup, DR, performance, availability, and cost optimization.
Infrastructure & Systems
- Administer and troubleshoot Windows Server environments.
- Support virtualization, storage, backup, networking, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and firewalls.
- Manage Microsoft 365 services (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, etc.).
- Administer Entra ID/Azure AD, Active Directory, GPOs, MFA, and identity sync.
- Support endpoint management using tools like Microsoft Intune.
- Monitor system health, capacity, security, and performance.
- Support infrastructure upgrades, lifecycle management, and modernization efforts.
- Develop and test backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans.
Automation & Continuous Improvement
- Automate repetitive tasks using PowerShell or similar scripting tools.
- Identify recurring issues and implement scalable long-term solutions.
- Improve monitoring, alerting, documentation, and deployment processes.
- Contribute to infrastructure architecture and planning discussions.
- Recommend improvements focused on reliability, security, and efficiency.
Cybersecurity
- Monitor and respond to security alerts, vulnerabilities, and suspected incidents across endpoints, networks, cloud, and user accounts.
- Investigate security events and lead incident response, including containment, remediation, and root-cause analysis.
- Manage identity and access controls (MFA, conditional access, privileged access, least privilege).
- Maintain and improve endpoint protection, email security, firewalls, vulnerability management, and security monitoring tools.
- Coordinate patching and vulnerability remediation across operating systems, applications, and infrastructure.
- Review and harden security configurations across Microsoft 365, Azure, endpoints, and infrastructure.
- Support phishing investigations, account compromises, malware incidents, and related threats.
- Support backup, disaster recovery, and ransomware readiness.
- Collaborate with external security vendors and service providers as needed.
- Maintain security documentation and support ongoing policy, awareness, and process improvements.
Our ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- 5+ years of progressive IT experience, including significant Tier 3, systems administration, infrastructure, or senior technical support responsibilities.
- Demonstrated experience supporting and troubleshooting complex production IT environments.
- Hands-on experience with cloud migration projects, including moving workloads or services from on-premises infrastructure to cloud or hybrid environments.
- Strong experience with Microsoft Azure and/or other major cloud platforms.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Windows Server
- Active Directory and Group Policy
- Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD
- Microsoft 365
- Networking, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and firewalls
- Virtualization
- Backup and disaster recovery
- Endpoint and device management
- Identity and access management
- Experience troubleshooting issues across infrastructure, networking, applications, endpoints, and cloud services.
- Working knowledge of cybersecurity principles, including MFA, least-privilege access, patching, endpoint security, and infrastructure hardening.
- PowerShell or equivalent scripting/automation experience.
- Strong documentation and technical communication skills.
- Ability to independently investigate unfamiliar technical problems and drive them through resolution.
- Must be legally allowed to work full time in Canada.
