WY Early Learning Association dba Abby Childcare is a licensed early learning centre located in Abbotsford, BC, dedicated to providing high-quality care and early learning programs for infants, toddlers, and JK-aged children.

The Early Childhood Educator – Infant/Toddler (ECE ITE) will primarily support infants and toddlers while working collaboratively with the childcare team to provide consistent, high-quality care and programming across the centre.
Duties and Key Responsibilities
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate programs for infants and toddlers.
- Support children's physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.
- Observe and assess children's development and contribute to individualized learning plans.
- Provide responsive and nurturing care based on each child's individual needs and development.
- Bathe, diaper, feed, and comfort infants and toddlers.
- Establish and maintain healthy routines for eating, sleeping, toileting, and hygiene.
- Prepare and serve snacks and meals appropriate for young children.
- Create engaging, age-appropriate activities through storytelling, singing, music, crafts, sensory play, and movement.
- Encourage children's creativity, curiosity, communication, and social interaction.
- Observe children for potential developmental, learning, or behavioural concerns and communicate findings to supervisors and parents/guardians.
- Maintain accurate records, daily observations, and developmental documentation.
- Maintain a clean, safe, healthy, and stimulating environment.
- Ensure daycare equipment, toys, and learning materials are clean, safe, and properly maintained.
- Collaborate with co-workers, families, and community professionals to support children's development.
- Participate in staff meetings and discuss children's progress and individual needs.
- Assist with supervision and support of ECE assistants, trainees, and volunteers as required.
- Work collaboratively with educators supporting JK-aged children to promote continuity and consistency across the centre.
Experience
- Bachelor's degree or college diploma in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
- Valid British Columbia Early Childhood Educator – Infant/Toddler (ECE ITE) licence/certification.
- Valid First Aid Certificate.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
- Knowledge of infant and toddler development and appropriate caregiving practices.
- Knowledge of applicable childcare licensing regulations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience working with infants, toddlers, and young children is an asset.
Infant/Toddler ECE Skills
- Assess children's development and contribute to individualized learning plans.
- Develop and implement age-appropriate programs for infants and toddlers.
- Provide responsive caregiving and support children's individual developmental needs.
- Bathe, diaper, feed, and comfort infants and toddlers.
- Establish consistent routines for feeding, sleeping, toileting, and hygiene.
- Encourage early communication, language, movement, sensory exploration, and social development.
- Lead age-appropriate activities involving stories, songs, music, art, sensory play, and physical activity.
- Maintain daycare equipment, toys, and learning materials.
- Assist ECEs and supervisors with children's records and documentation.
- Communicate children's progress, needs, and concerns to parents/guardians and supervisors.
- Encourage children to explore and express themselves through developmentally appropriate activities.
- Support smooth transitions and positive relationships between infant/toddler and JK programs.
Additional Skills
- Engage infants, toddlers, and young children in age-appropriate learning and play activities.
- Guide children in developing healthy eating, dressing, toileting, and hygiene habits.
- Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for meals, rest, and activities.
- Observe children for signs of potential developmental or behavioural concerns.
- Maintain written observations and documentation.
- Discuss children's progress and concerns at staff meetings.
- Establish appropriate guidelines for behaviour.
- Maintain an environment that protects the health, safety, security, and well-being of children.
- Build positive and collaborative relationships with co-workers, families, and community service providers.
- Assist in supervising and coordinating activities of ECE assistants, trainees, and volunteers as required.
- Work as part of a team serving children across infant/toddler and JK programs.
