The Opportunity
We are seeking an accomplished, hands-on Warehouse Manager to lead the next stage of development of our distribution operation.
This is more than a traditional warehouse management role. As our business grows in volume, customer expectations, service requirements and operational complexity, we need a transformational leader who can strengthen today's operation while building the processes, systems, capabilities and team required for tomorrow.
The successful candidate will be equally comfortable leading people on the warehouse floor and redesigning how work gets done. You will assess current operations, challenge inefficient practices, standardize processes, develop frontline leadership capability and use data, technology and continuous improvement to create a safer, more scalable and higher-performing operation delivering better outcomes for our clients.
You will have ownership of warehouse execution across receiving, put-away, storage, inventory accuracy, picking, packing and shipping, with a strong focus on customer serivce, employee engagement and productivity without compromising safety and quality (fundamentals).
The Leadership Mandate
Your mandate will be to lead, stabilize, improve and scale the warehouse operation with the below key responsibilities:
People Leadership & Capability Development
- Provide visible, hands on leadership across daily warehouse operations
- Lead, coach, motivate and develop warehouse employees and frontline leaders
- Establish clear expectations, accountability and measurable performance standards
- Build structured onboarding, training, cross-training and competency-development programs with assistance from our internal HR
- Identify high potential employees and develop internal succession and leadership capability with assistance from our internal HR
- Conduct regular team meetings, performance discussions with HR, coaching sessions and operational reviews
- Create an environment where employees are encouraged to identify and report problems, recommend improvements and take ownership of results
- Develop staffing and scheduling plans aligned with workload, customer demand and productivity expectations
Operational Excellence
- Provide end to end leadership of receiving, put-away, storage, replenishment, picking, packing, staging and shipping
- Ensure orders and receipts are processed accurately, efficiently and in accordance with SOP's and customer requirements
- Establish and maintain standardized operating procedures and work instructions
- Analyze workflows, labour requirements, equipment utilization and warehouse layout to eliminate bottlenecks and waste
- Develop scalable processes capable of supporting increasing business volume and complexity
- Balance service, labour productivity, equipment utilization and overtime to achieve operational and financial targets
- Establish effective shift handovers, daily operation routines and escalation processes
Logistics and Continuous Improvement
- Lead warehouse improvement initiatives using LEAN, root-cause analysis and structured problem solving methodologies
- Challenge legacy processes and redesign workflows where better solutions are available
- Identify opportunities to eliminate waste, unnecessary handling, travel time, rework and process variation
- Lead improvements in slotting, storage strategy, material flow, replenishment and picking methodology
- Develop action plans addressing operational constraints and recurring service or quality failures
- Implement sustainable corrective actions rather than temporary fixes
- Build continuous improvement capability within the warehouse team so improvement becomes part of daily operations
Duties
- Oversee daily warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, order picking, packing, and shipping processes
- Coordinate transportation logistics with carriers and third-party logistics providers (3PL), ensuring timely deliveries and pickups
- Supervise warehouse staff, providing leadership, training, and performance management to foster a motivated team
- Implement process improvements using data analysis skills and ERP systems such as SAP or AS400 to enhance operational efficiency
- Manage inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts and reconciliation using warehouse management systems (WMS)
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations by conducting safety audits and promoting a safe working environment
- Collaborate with purchasing and supply chain teams to optimize stock levels and reduce waste through continuous improvement initiatives
Systems, Data and Performance Management
- Maximize effective utilization of WMS or comparable warehouse management systems
- Improve the use of RF/Barcode scanning, system-directed workflows and inventory controls
- Develop and manage warehouse KPI's and visual performance dashboards
- Conduct daily and weekly performance reviews, identify gaps and ensure corrective actions are completed
- Use operational data to support staffing, capacity and process-improvement decisions
Inventory and Capacity Management
- Maintain high levels of inventory accuracy through disciplined receiving, storage, picking and cycle-count processes
- Optimize product placement, slotting and storage utilization
- Regularly evaluate warehouse capacity and recommend improvements to accommodate business growth
- Develop plans for changing SKU profiles, customer requirements and seasonal volume
- Identify requirements for racking, material-handling equipment, automation and other infrastructure improvements
Safety, Quality and Compliance
- Champion a proactive safety culture where safe work practices are embedded in everyday operations
- Ensure compliance with company policies, applicable legislation and regulatory requirements
- Maintain appropriate warehouse housekeeping, sanitation and workplace organization standards including participating in the safety committee
- Ensure material handling equipment, tools and infrastructure are inspected and maintained appropriately
- Lead investigations into incidents, damages, inventory discrepancies and operational failure and ensure effective corrective actions are implemented
- Support WHMIS, HAACP and other applicable regulatory requirements
Cross-Functional Leadership
Work collaboratively with Logistics, Customer Service, Sales and Senior Leadership to ensure warehouse priorities support broader business objectives.
Translate customer requirements and commercial growth opportunities into practical warehouse capacity, staffing, process and system solutions.
Act as a key operational leader during customer onboarding, new service implementation and significant changes in volume or complexity.
What Success Looks Like
Within the first 6 months, the successful Warehouse Manager will have:

Qualifications and Experience REQUIRED
- Post secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, Business or a related discipline
- 5+ years of progressive warehouse/distribution leadership experience including responsibility for leading and managing others
- Demonstrated experience leading teams in a high-volume or high-velocity distribution environment
- Strong working knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management and distribution processes
- Experience with a WMS or RF/Barcode enabled warehouse operations
- Strong microsoft Excel and general MS office capabilities
- Demonstrated ability to analyze operational problems, determine root causes and implement sustainable solutions
- Strong leadership, coaching and employee development capabilities
- Ability to communicate effectively from within the warehouse floor through to senior management/ownership team
- Comfortable setting expectations and providing timely, constructive and direct performance feedback
- Demonstrated knowledge of LEAN, continuous improvement and process optimization
- Ability to balance strategic improvement initiatives with hands-on daily operational leadership
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation
- Valid forklift license
- Ability to successfully complete required background checks and finger printing requirements
