Please note: This position requires availability for morning/day shifts on weekdays and weekends. We will only consider candidates who meet this requirement. This is a permanent (non-seasonal) role.

Our full-service grocery store includes a scratch bakery, butcher shop, deli, commercial kitchen, Gourmet to Go Café, full kitchen, garden center and giftware area. Position Summary

We’re looking for a personable and dependable candidate to join our Gourmet To Go team. In this fast-paced, customer-facing role, you’ll be responsible for serving hot meals, fresh sandwiches, and wraps prepared by our kitchen, crafting pizzas using our in-house oven, and preparing beverages — including espresso-based drinks — from our coffee bar. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with food, thrives in a collaborative environment, and takes pride in delivering excellent customer experiences.

The ideal candidate is someone who is eager to learn, takes initiative, and enjoys supporting their team. We’re looking for someone who wants to grow with the role, develop their skills, and take on increasing responsibility over time.

Job Structure

This is a full-time hourly position. Work schedule includes weekends and holidays as required. Paid vacation accrual at 4%. Benefits are available after 6-months of full-time employment.

Responsibilities

Customer Engagement

Greet customers with a warm, welcoming attitude.
Take and fulfill orders accurately while providing knowledgeable recommendations on menu items.
Maintain a clean and inviting service counter and dining area.

Food Service & Preparation

Serve hot table meals, sandwiches, and wraps prepared by the kitchen team.
Prepare and cook pizzas to order using the in-house pizza oven.
Ensure all food items are presented professionally, portioned accurately, and served at proper temperatures.

Beverage Preparation

Operate the coffee and espresso bar, preparing a range of hot and cold beverages.
Maintain the espresso machine and barista station to ensure quality and consistency.

Cleanliness & Food Safety

Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards consistently.
Keep prep and service areas clean, organized, and stocked throughout the shift.

Team Collaboration

Work closely with both front-of-house and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service flow.
Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding customer feedback, inventory levels, or equipment issues.

Qualifications

Previous experience in a café, deli, or food service environment is preferred.
Confidence operating an espresso machine and pizza oven (training provided).
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to multitask and stay composed in a fast-paced environment.
Attention to detail and a commitment to exceptional customer service.
Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays.
